    hehehe, grease and shafts...

Anyways, I've been using Mobil1 for the past few years. Got my truck with 36K miles. I've been greasing it once during the fall. Don't really put a lot of miles on my truck, only about 8K or so a year.

I hate using the Mobil1 grease though. I can't save my left overs properly. The only ALWAYS seperate and makes a mess everywhere.

I imagine this probably happens with the driveshaft also, so that can't be good.

What other product can I use in place of Mobil1? And will it be an issue with mixing it with the old Mobil1 grease.

I don't think either would be an issue mixing in with the older Mobil 1.

I also use Mobil1 synthetic and have the same problem, leaks out of my gun all over the place in my garage while it sits.

Though from what i've seen once it's in the zerks and around the shaft it doesn't seem to break down.

Though i'm always open to a better alternative...

I thought the Super lube synthetic was not good on the drive line?

Toyota simply requires NLGI Gr 2, which according to this page, Super Lube meets.

Red and tacky but I have the same problem of it separating. Figure I'll use up the tube and switch to something else.

For high-force applications (like on the driveshaft), a grease with molybdenum disulfide added would be less likely to get squeezed out. However, Toyota requires only basic NLGI Gr 2 on the driveshaft. My advice? Pick which ever brand of grease that doesn't reek heavily of sulfur. :)
