Just because the spanner is far down doesnt mean there is alot of preload. It could just be where it is resting since it is a longer shock.

I just built one of these truck, it is currently sitting in my shop and I can guarantee that a normal 8" will not work with an extended rod end. OP, take the shock off, pull the spring off and cycle the suspension, If the shock bottoms out way before the uniball binds out, you will have your answer right there.

Before you go hacking apart your coil bucket, try putting the top mount on upside down to see if it will even clear.

That's about where an 18" spring sits on a standard 2.5x8 coilover. My 18's have zero preload and I have more exposed threads than that.

Holy cow! That's not at ride height is it?! Hope you're flexing in the picture...

Do you know your coilovers' ext/comp lengths? Have you cycled your front for travel numbers? I'm assuming those are standard off the shelf 2.5x8s, and not Tacoma specific.

Yeah I have the lengths written down somewhere but they're standard 2.5x8s. I haven't taken the spring off and cycled it yet and I don't know how much travel I'm exactly pulling. That pic was with the camburg spindles but since then I've added preload and swapped to stock spindles.

The coilovers ADS builds me are 17.5 collapsed and 25.5 extended. This is with a 2" extended lower rod end for the 2nd gen

The ones they build for my 1st gen stuff is 15.5 collapsed and 23.5 extended

That is almost identical to off the shelf 8" Fox coil overs.
    charge.
From Down South Motorsports web site.

Shock Travel Extended Length Collapsed Length
    8.0" 25.43" 17.50"

Now add 2" to those numbers so your comparing apples to apples. A standard lower rod end will not clear the axle. The problem he is having is he added an extended rod end to a standard length shock.

I understand what you are saying, but that is why on the 4wd the coil bucket is cut, the adapter is flipped and the shock is moved up a few inches. If he does that per TC instructions it will compensate for the longer rod end.

If that bracket clears the king top cap that may work

I also have a flat steel top plate mount, I'm going to use that one and flip it to see where that puts me today after work.

Then decide from there if I need to cut bucket, or if they will even work.

If they don't work out, I'll post them for sale with both rod ends on here.

^ Do that first before you sell out those coilovers. I'm sorry you ran into this issue. I knew my kit was perfect for what you were looking for and wanted to help you find Coilovers. . .

I really hope it all works out soon enough for you. . .

Well I tried to flip and just mount the top plate but had to cut the coil bucket. Here is how the the uniball is setting now .

    Two things:

Number 1: Weld in a half section of tube to bridge that gap in your coil bucket. Do not wheel before you do that, the bucket will collapse if you apply enough force.

Number 2: That's an improvement, but like myself and a couple others have said already - call TC if you haven't already. TC kits are made to work with short body shocks, and I'm pretty certain that what you have is not the right part.

Yes but only has one side completed so I have a good taco lean going on. I will be doing the other side tomorrow morning.

I also tried to adjust the spring preload but its already max out. ( 8 threads on shock)
