Diff vibration- Do "baja" OEM lifted tacoma's have it? If no, why not?

I have a 2012 dclb that I just lifted 1.75" with bilstein 5100's and am pretty much exactly the same height as the baja edition tacoma's. I get the dreaded "diff bearing vibration" from 35-40mph that goes away in 4wd. I know there is a bushing you can install but I can't bring myself to tear apart a brand new truck with 10k miles on it.

The question I want an answer to is whether this is also a problem on the factory 1.75" lifted baja edition tacoma's. If it is, then I won't worry so much about my vibration but if it's not, what did they do differently? I was under the assumption they had the same control arms, cv shafts, diff etc. that would cause the same CV angle and suspension geometry in the front.

Please only reply if you have pertinent information. We don't need another thread about your non baja trucks vibrating.

I'd like to know too. I've been lusting after a set of 5100's for my '12.

Not a lot of Baja owners on here that I know of. I would assume its not an issue tho...I don't think that would fly, even with the decline in Toyota's quality...

    A few bolts are different.
I have run with that vibration for more than 80,000 miles. I will be doing the bushing in the near future but I have not had any failure yet. The vibration is just part of it for me, I barely notice any longer.

This topic scares me... Some people end up with this some don't... Does this happen more when just lifting the front, like with the 5100's and not doing an AAL? Does that not matter it just happens.....

This is very interesting that the baja's don't have it but a "normal" taco lifted the same amount does.
Does anyone have access to look up the part no's of the diff, bearing, and CV on a baja to see if they're different?

I had KM2s with toytec lift and had mad vibe issues. Got new all terrain tires and had them rebalanced by toyota and now dont have any issues. Might try take your truck to toyota to have your wheels rebalanced to see if it fixes the issue. Paid about $50 to have them rebalanced.

Its very simple, it all boils down to the angle and geometry of the driveline. The baja may have a different angle and geometry on the entire setup vs. A standard prerunner. Matter of fact you want the vibration to an extent... Not too much obviously, reason why is because it indicates driveline rigidity.

Won't help with the front diff vib. Best bet is to let it be until something fails or call up ECGS, I think they have a remedy.

    Note.

Prerunners can't have front diff vibrations.

    Carry on.

Not all lifted Tacomas have vibrations and that is what you are assuming. I would bet there are more Tacoma owners that have installed 5100s and an aal and don't experience any vibes.

I had the vibes for 20000 miles then one day they just went away. Put another 40000 miles with no vibes and no trouble.

I believe this is true. I lifted my truck 2.25" in the front and had zero vibes. That was with a C/O setup. Roughly 20,000 miles later I installed an ARB, so I don't have a long term report. It would not surprise me if some Bajas have the vibe, just like some stock trucks have driveline vibration problems. Nine model years and that one is still unresolved.

Oh that was my mistake, I thought for some reason we were referring to the driveshaft.

Is the vibe actually destructive? i.e. if you ignore it, would something in the diff fail within 60,000 miles?
