I agree with them closing the doors to prevent Unions control. I think more business should do this. Move to right to work states. But hey that just an opinion.

Since they are liquidating all assets and hostess brands, some company will grab them and continue to make most products. Granted, they won't taste the same. The new owner will add their own twist.

They are hoping into liquidation so I'm sure someone will snatch them up or at least the rights to the recipes.

    Yeah.
Unions in general go against the whole idea of free enterprise and economics. I'm not saying all of them are bad, but the entire market right now is tough, and being a member of a union shouldn't mean that you are immune to what everyone else is going through. They had their use a long time ago, and again, not all are bad.

I once flew on a plane next to a union guy that installed wood trim. His wage was $32/hr and he was pissed because he was having to go to CA to find work due to the fact that people were coming across the border and doing it for $15/hr. Really? Over $60K a year to install wood trim? Corners can be tricky, but that is a trick that can be learned in less than a day. At the time I was a recent college graduate with a Computer Science degree doing robotic integrations for about $22/hr and pretty dang happy about it.

The market sets the price people are willing to pay for something, and if that price is lower than it costs to provide that something, then, well, the demand disappears. Negotiating wages that cause the price to be beyond what the market is willing to pay ends up being zero demand and zero wages.

Maybe this Hostess thing is a sign that Americans are being more health conscious. But I have my doubts, they are probably just buying bulk generics at Wal-Mart.

It's a shame for those people that are out of work, but to me it's kind of silly to believe that being a Twinkie baker would (or should) ever afford you the American Dream in the first place. But then these people have probably never taken a business course and probably can't do the math, and they just do what the union tells them to do.

Again, some (and maybe most) unions do seem to be waking up to the fact that they need to compromise in order to be competitive and keep their members working.

Since China and Russia have dropped the estate tax and we are putting one in....why not. Win win for them off our misfortune.

^^^^ The detailed version of my post. I 100% agree the union required a higher wage that what the market called for. It completely undermines free enterprise.

You are correct on noting the lack of correctness of the post you quoted.
