So basically what everyone is saying is you need a passport to get into Canuckland AND you have to have a clean record, no DUI's, etc?

Hmmm, wonder why we cant implement that law. Stupid 'Merica you can come in if your a felon and no passport needed, all you have to do is hop a fence and go for a nice walk in the southwests beautiful desert.

Up here, all you have to do is go for a nice swim in the St. Lawrence river and you can get into Canada. It's a little chilly this time of year though...

It's funny when I tried going to Canada from Washington the Canadian border patrol or whatever they are asked us "have you ever been to jail in Canada? It's not a nice place"

which is funny cause from what I have heard it's like disneyland compared to the states

My buddy had to sign a waiver stating he would not stay longer then "so many days" and would not drive a car while in the country. He did not have one on his record so no idea if that is the case. he just admitted to having two of them from 15 years ago when he was young and stupid.

    Yes.

We have plenty of laws on the books, they are just enforced poorly by our Government (and I don't mean the border patrol).

In Canada they actually lock up criminals. It's not like the US who jails everyone they can get their hands on including non-violent offenders.

The US jails more people then any other nation.

In Canada they jail people who deserve it so mathematically you have a better chance of being housed with a killer then like in the US where the guy next to you could of been caught for smoking a joint.

A little of this and a little of that.
So you can't get a Canadian passport if you've had a DUI? If I didn't read it on the Internet I'd never believe it.

I was out on Lake of the Woods north of Warroad snow mobiling when I got stuck. When my dad found me I was deep into Canada's frozen icehole, luckily I wore my rubbers and was soon extracted and heading back south into Minnesota's balmy embrace.

Guy, nobody is serving time in prison for simply "smoking a joint." Only repeat offenders, those caught with a significant amount of drugs (distribution), or those convicted of multiple concurrent offenses (one being possession), are actually imprisioned for drug offenses.

Most other "non-violent offenders" (burglars, child molesters, car thieves, embezzlers, identity thieves, check forgers, counterfeiters, muggers, shoplifters, purse snatchers, pickpockets, con artists, swindlers, etc) equally deserve their incarceration.

Finally, the incarceration rate in the United States (2.2 million or far less than 1% of the population) is not excessive, especially when that number actually committed crimes worthy of their incarceration. Of course, we could always lower those incarceration numbers by switching to alternative punishments similar to some other countries - firing squads, cutting off hands or feet, floggings, canings, torture, and similar.

Don't need a passport, just a passport card as was mentioned prior...but if you have a passport, that would be better.

nexus or seri cards only work crossing a land border. global entry and passport by air.
and yes you better have a clean record, I've seen people traveling by air detained and sign documents to never to re-enter canada, and put back on any flight leaving or risk jail time for minor drugs and alcohol even on their juvi record

Names Skip first off. Secondly there are thousands of people arrested and jailed for smoking a joint each year on their first offense...you can't just blatantly deny facts in the real world. Also last time I checked I'm pretty sure a child molester is a violent criminal. You can try to slant my statement anyway you want and you have, but facts will remain facts regardless of your stance or twist on reality.

I'm happy to hear you have no problem being the gulag nation of the 21st century:rolleyes: or the fact that 1 out of 8 government employees is a corrections officer?

Lets keep building more jails cause I sure as hell could pay allot more taxes to imprison people

I know getting to the root of the problem which is a proper education system and supply of jobs is something only us idiots in the real world wish for instead of new prisons.

If you leave the U.S. you must have a Passport of some type. The regular passport book or the new travel card. A passport book is used when taking an airplane and the cheaper Travel Card can be used for ground travel or by boat. You can go to this web site for all details. http://travel.state.gov/
