manage to price a pair of 12 Tacoma OEM side mirrors with color match cover. so far this is the most affordable ones I've seen. 451.00$ shipped

but was also tempted to go cheap route. aftermarket 4Runner mirrors with plain black covers. 269.90$ shipped. got some thinking to do. what to do, what to do haha.

I pulled the trigger on some of the 2010 4runner aftermarket mirrors. They came in a Kool-vue logo'd box, mirrors and the cover caps, made in Taiwan. Looks ok, but the one problem is on the mounting part with the factory Tacoma mirrors. The three screws on the inside to remove the mirror from the bracket part are not the same. The three screw holes are close, but do not line up 100%. On the OEM mirrors there is a metal part that the aftermarket mirrors do not have. Even trying to move the grey metal part to the 4runner mirror, didn't work.

OEM mirror metal part - grey part, even after removing it doesn't match up.

It looks like the aftermarket ones combined the OEM grey part into the bracket part.

Did you have any kind of gap between the mounting arm bracket and the mirror body?

.there's a small gap from the mirror mounted on the bracket to the door (but you have to have it so they can be folded

wanted to also go for the aftermarket 4Runner mirrors because it's affordable, but I didn't want to run into a few problems like this. so I forked up a little more dough and went ahead and ordered the OEM 12 Tacoma mirrors from ToyotaPartsSales.com. order is in process right now. got em for 499.68$ shipped to HI. found a site for 451.00$ but they didn't want to ship to HI.

Just an FYI, I don't think the Tacoma mirrors are heated, so if you are doing the mod for the heated mirrors you have to have the 4runner mirrors.

I have some manual base model tacoma mirrors to use the arms on the way to me. We'll see, if not I will send them back and figure something else out. They are showing to be to me on Friday.

I'm not sure I would recomend the kool-uve brand for this mod.

I will post an update on Friday after I receive them.

The bracket arms from the base model manual mirrors worked, same setup from the Kool-vue mirrors between their Tacoma and 4Runner mirrors. The aftermarket ones had all the screw holes bases the same length, instead of one deep one and two shallow ones.

All the wires were different colors but everything still works based on the pin settings and where the wires go.

I'm confused, what part didn't fit before and how did you make it work

Looks good though. Any problems with shaking or anything of the sort?

OEM mirror cover came in today. don't know why the mirror assy didn't come in at the same. I'll get pics up ones there on.

by any chance are you planning on making them as a part of your DRL?

kind like the idea but never seen anyone done it(I might be wrong maybe someone out there has)

I really need these... Drove home from a graveyard this morning and the mirrors didn't de-fog until I was pretty much home...

The OEM bracket that bolts to the truck had a different end than the aftermarket mirror assembly where they bolts together. The grey metal piece from my truck's mirrors wouldn't fit to the aftermarket mirror and with out that piece attached to the brackets it wouldn't fit together.
I bought a set of non powered mirrors to get the brackets that would fit a Tacoma and the aftermarket mirrors. No shaking or anything that I can tell.

I don't have DRL, but no plans to make them into DRL.

I wired it the same way as here : http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...010-4runner-mirrors-worked-8.html#post4038425
pin 1 from the mirror to pin 9 in the wiring harness at the fuse box
pin 7 from the mirror to pin 2 in the wiring harness at the fuse box

They come on when I open the door if unlocked, or unlock the truck. They will turn off after about 30 sec if the truck is not locked and immediately when the doors are locked.
This doesn't cause the foot lights to come on when the dome light is turned on inside the truck.

I am happy with the turn out, I still have to get a heated mirror switch to complete it all.

    ok
I have the Forerunner mirrors, aftermarket. There is a five pin connection on them, will i have to run extra wires from these mirrors to the switch. Did the switch on the mirror control (seinna) i think work with the Forerunner mirrors. We do need a timer somewhare right?

Ya you need to run new wiring for the turn signals/foot lights
And need to add a circuit to add the heated mirrors
