Man, I would really like to make this trip! I've got a lot to get done between now and then, and I'll have to see how work is going, but I'm gonna try to make it.

Had a question for you guys, what is the highest trail rating I could take a stock tacoma or a tacoma with a 2 inch lift through? 5??

I tried to search the thread, but didn't come up with anything, I apologize if this was discussed before. Trying to plan a trip out there soon!

    Thank you all!

so no sliders or additional skids? stock size tires too?

because tire size and the trucks ability to slide on rocks will effect what you can hit as well..

but stock tires & lift with no additional protection i'd stick with the 4-5 max...the 5's may have areas that you could drag on or hit your rocker panel on...i'd also be cautious of where you t-case is and make sure nothing jumps up and hits it...tire placement will be key on some of the ledges and rocks you may encounter, but you can make it through fine if you are smart about it.

Thank you for the information! This helps tremendously!

I have two options really, lift and tires with no protection. Or protection with no lift and tires (my budget sucks). I'm leaning towards the protection aspect, as the stock tacoma is a decent offroader.

Edit: Yes Stock size AT tires at the moment.

i took my taco on a 7. at the time, it had a shitty 2.5" nose lift, 265/75/16 BFG A/T's, no sliders, and stock rear suspension. but i do have a locker, which helps a ton. i escaped with only one dent/scratch right underneath the taillight

good driving and more importantly, good spotting is what got me through with minimal damage
