Will certainly do that. I still make frequent trips over to OKC. My old roommate/best friend still lives in the village.

I've been cruising some of the local dealerships lately...seems like everything I'm looking for (<50k miles) is still tagged at the >$27k mark.

At that price, I'm considering just buying new. For the extra 1500-2000 I can save ~40k miles, get a warranty and all that good stuff.

Once I buy this one, I'll be done with cars for some time. Wife is getting a company car, and I'll be able to be back in a Taco.

    • Leaning to AC:Haven't decided if I want to go DC or AC yet...we don't have kids, and don't plan on having them for at least another few years. I also don't frequent more passengers than my wife, but on the rare occasion I'll have 4 people. With my recent cycling habit I picked up, the full size bed from an AC would be nice, although not necessary as I could make a SB work fine. I'm leaning towards AC but could go either way if the price was right.

    • Leaning to SR5:Haven't rode in an SR5 to feel the difference between the seats, but am 90% certain I'll probably opt for sr5 + tow package, as I'll replace all the other options from a sport/OR anyway, and in the long run I'll end up spending less for an ARB locker set than to get an e-locker from the dealership (if that's the only reason I would be choosing an OR).

    • Leaning to 6-spdNo preference on gearbox, although the manual is cheaper from what I've seen.

    • 4x4 for certain

    • Leaning to a light color:Color doesn't matter much to be, but if I had a choice either Pyrite, Barcelona, SS or White. Trying to get away from the darker colors in the Oklahoma dirt/wind

    • Graphite interior

Like I said, I don't really care for any of the options anymore. Best part of the OR package is the locker...and I'd rather have an ARB. Best part of the sport is the skewp, which is only cosmetic.

Short list of mods I've though of already includes mid travel like I had before, only probably with King RR this time. I had a soft spot for my camburg uniballs, so I'll probably get those again. AP leafs like I had on my DC. Armor/skids/sliders. Replace the stereo, only probably step up from what I did last time. Then move on to lockers and other stuff. Just a bit more than I had before, but all done right the first time, so I won't have to keep upgrading parts :p

*phew* that was a long post.

    Sweet ride!

I looked a 4runner. There's one at my dad's shop (lexus of tulsa). It's a 4x4 Limited...but...I think I'd rather have a Taco for the price. Sick ride for sure though.

I understand what you are going through--just went through it. There are occasionally a few used Tacos with low mileage out there--I missed a 2012 TRD DC with 35K for $25K. But they are few and far between. I eventually went new (ordered) because I wanted Pyrite--hard to find used. I got an SR5 with tow package for the same reason--will add on what I want. Right now, most used Tacos are certified and close to new pricing. The new ones on the lot are the TSS edition which is nice wheels, tube step, carpet, and badge--for $2900.
I echo the suggestion for Hudiburg in OKC. I went through just about every dealer and they were the only ones who actually listened to what I wanted and did the leg work to find it. The rest just wanted to sell what was on lot. Very low key and low pressure.
I do have to give Norton credit though. They just bought an OKC dealer. I got played by that dealer (bait and switch) and left. When I called Norton on it, they made great efforts to ensure that wasn't how they do business. Offered to get my truck at a very substantial discount (probably a loss for them). Stuck with Hudiburg since they did the right thing up front--but Norton did make a pretty big effort to make up for a bad deal.

    Certainly...

there's a 4 banger in MGM/manual/AC/4x4/OR here in Tulsa that I thought about...but meh...for the money, I'd rather just buy a v6. I'd rather have the 6 anyway, and it's worth a bit more to me.

Hudiburg is a good dealer. Little over priced, I bought my tacoma at this dealer across from the walmart over on 23rd street. The guy has a lot of 2nd gen tacoma' used.... the guys a bit shady, but has a lot of tacoma's in stock. Forget the name of it.... its owned by this middle eastern guy named akbar, he buys all these tacoma's at auction and he'll ship them all back to saudia arabia a couple times a year.

Yeah, that's it A&G. Look at his web page, he has a ton. He's alittle hard to deal with, but I wanted a first gen dc trd, for its superiorty, and he had one with 70k miles. The best one I could find, so I had to deal with him......

Their customer service sucks, but he gave me 6k on my malibu maxx in a trade in. Over 2k more then any dealer around.... he's problably kicking himself for it, he's had that car on his lot since I traded it in, and he's asking 7 for it

Wife gave me a budget :( Now I can't shop new anymore, unless someone wants to get me a SWEET deal lol.

That being said... I've noticed a lot of places that have put OR rims on the trucks and are calling them off-road models. No bedside graphics, no sport seats, no lockers....weird. Does this happen a lot?

I sure hate used car shopping, as I'm picky with condition and unfortunately for me Tacoma's don't seem to lose much value until 5-6 yrs and 80k+ miles later.

There's a 4-banger AC I might go check out...Anyone have any experience with the 4cylinder?

I haven't ever driven one, but don't imagine with a MT it'd be much different. I very rarely tow anything (read: one time in 3 years with my previous truck), and the most I usually haul is a couch/tv/refridgerator/yardsupplies.

Sure, I'd prefer the 6cylinder, but if I can get a screamin' deal on a 4, as long as it's got 4x4 I think I'd be alright. I'm going to go by and drive it soon and see if it'll fit my needs or if it's just going to not have enough pep for me.

    Thoughts?

Sent the wife to check it out, since she's not working right now.

Aparently, they sold the 4banger i was going to look at.

She left with an offer from them on a brand new 2013 MGM DCSB 4x4, sr5 with tow package window tint and floor mats. 29.5k. Still too high in my opinion, but it might not be a bad start.

    What do you guys think?

    That's what I thought...

seems like they should be closer to the 28 mark. 28.5 might not be bad, according to edmunds anyway.

Can't find a reasonable used one for an amount less that makes any sense. To get anywhere in the neighborhood of 22-24k for one, I've got to go back 4-6 years and 50+k miles. For the difference in price, just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
