Got quite a bit done today. Axle reinstalled. Suspension is cycled for the last time. Bump cans and lower shock mounts are tacked in.
I'm not sold on the lower shock mounts. I reused the ends of my old TC ones from the other axle and they're just not singing to me. But great googly moogly I have a ridiculous amount of droop with the 50T.

Vewy nice! I wanna see this thing going through the whoops already!!!

In that pic, are the shocks fully extended or do they have a bit of travel still? Are you going to be running limit straps to prevent the shocks from over-extending or the shackles from inverting, or will that not be a problem? Is your yoke or DS extended at all?

    Thanks homie.

Shocks are fully extended. That is full droop. Limit straps will be attached to the insides of the lower shock bolt and run up to an adjustable clevis welded to my crossmember.

If I had more shock, I would physically be able to droop another inch, maybe more, before the shackle hits 90*. That said, the leaf pack splays out before that and is rather hard on the main leaf when it takes the entire weight of the axle.

As for the DS, I have the factory driveshaft which has a factory slip yoke. I definitely don't need to extend it, if anything I may need to shorten the DS. As the axle droops, it swings forward and the yoke is pushed in. Initial observations...it's a cunthair from bottoming out. I still have to do a few more measurements when I put the leaf pack back together and strap the axle to determine if I need to shorten it or not. Like i said...ridiculous droop with the 50T

Honestly, today was the last "hard" day of work. It's all little shit from here on out.

Metal to metal is 18 13/16".
I haven't measured bump to strap yet, but it will probably be in the 17" range.

Take a real good look at my shock mounts...and then take a gander at these:

My old shock mounts on the tacoma housing were TC. I cut them off and reused them here.

As for paint, meh....paint is for show trucks. Maybe I'll just clear coat it.

Shit, sorry dude. I thought I switched to sarcastic font.
I'll be rattle canning everything. It will be primed and then Rustoleum spray on bed liner and/or hammered finish.

I eventually take the paint off everything. Hell the front of lower shock ends on my rear shocks are down to bare aluminum (keep in mind, they come anodized blue from King).
Spray on bedliner sucks if applied to bare metal. Applied to a well prepped primer, it works good enough for me. And it's easy to touch up later. I always have flat black primer and spray on bedliner in my cabinets.

    Looking good Jason.

Quick question, how will you keep water from collecting in the truss?

Strategically placed pee holes on the bottom of the truss. Also used for squirting as much spray paint in there I can to get whatever coverage I can.
