Tacoma Spring refurbishing

The first ones are spring under, but they're not the 1 ton S-10 (8 leafs per side) those are standard S-10 & aren't going to cut it..

Best bet is the older GMC/Chevy, but ya gotta hit the yards & be selective, people think you just walk in & grab the first truck spring you see, but its waaaay more than that... I love it when i find the right material right away tho'..

i finally started my leaf packs, got some donors off a 78 k5 blazer. so when i started the second stock leaf was bent, so i just pulled it. now my current leaf is made up of the main, 3 chevy and the stock overload(for towing my boat). does this sound right? plus i installed a shackle flip kit.

The Blazer was a good choice, recently built some springs for a member using some off an '81.. got excellent results...Your config sounds like you'll be alright with that, POST some pics when done dude ...

As a matter of fact, I would like anyone who has done this MOD to put up pics of finished product, it helps me for developement of spring kits, but mostly I love checking out everyone's truck with lift...

can i remove the overload spring and replace it with another leaf? i only tow the boat during summer months

 

i don't think you'd need the overload.

 

I was thinking the same thing. I was thinking of just adding another leaf for the extra weight. but on the other hand i dont want it to be too stiff

 

Sure, most guys that do this MOD dump the overload, the only time I say not to is if you tow anything fairly heavy/& often....

 

I remember someone posting link to a page (possibly a pdf file) that lists many of the truck leaf spring widths... can't seem to find it, would you happen to have the page reference?

To see this proper, first save it & open it with windows picture/Fax viewer

& click the little box that says "original size" & it'll pop up easily readable/clear

 

Abuse him a little and he works so much better! lol
