It is all load based. Idle and free revving puts barely any load on the engine. It should always read about 20 inches of Mercury ( inHg) on these trucks at idle. Unless you have aftermarket cam gears.

Below or to the left of the zero is vacuum. Zero is atmosphere ( 14.7 psi is atmospheric pressure or 1 BAR. Which represents Zero on the gauge. ) What a naturally aspirated engine sees at 100 % load and wide open throttle.

To the right or above Zero is boost. In the US it is understood as PSI, above atmosphere.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6......14.7. PSI. 14.7 again equals 1 BAR, but this is 14.7 psi above atmosphere. Which means 2 BAR. But is simply "understood" as 1 BAR, since only referring to the above atmosphere pressure.

^^^ Thanks for the link Tor, DEFINITELY going to look into that and the fuel pump. Add a glob of yellow paint and im sure they couldnt tell the difference between the stock pulley.

No offense taken. See, after researching and reading what gadget posted about the SC, and he is talking about Second Gen SC for 3.4 older Taco which makes even less HP I just expected more from my 2012. I mean the boost is better than stock, I agree, I like it better now, still though. I know its a truck but when you read what Gadget says about the torgue made by even the old SC, recommending the Tranny Valve Body upgrade by Level 10, how some cars like Maxima will rip the tranny out if not upgraded with one full to the floor throttle with a SC I was really expecting a big lift. I actually thought it would bring my truck to 304 hp. My truck prob isnt making 265 HP at the wheel. I have a cat back exhaust also since its a TX PRO.

The Tranny in my truck has always felt super weak, I agree with Gadget there, for sure! FLooring it stock I also felt like it was going to rip it out through 2nd. Now with the SC it is a little worse. I am going to look at the valve body upgrade, but not now, Im sure that will void my 100,000 mile extended bumper to bumper.

If TRD ever releases the CAI I will buy and install it same day. See if that helps. Other than that I cant really make anymore power until my warranty has lapst.

For anyone that is looking to buy the SC, its very cool and sounds great and does give the truck much more torque for sure. . But for $5k it should at the very least roast the tires, truck or not. It claims a 27% increase in HP from stock, that is total BS.

Keep in mind that 27% increase is at the flywheel not the wheels. And trd does make a Cai but the better one is the afe si stage 2 it the same as the 1st gen trd cai

Do the valve body upgrade. Do not go with Level 10. Go with IPT. Gagdet will 100% agree with that statement. That will make your transmission last a long time. It will also help it hold over 450 wtq easily. The auto transmission is pretty damn stout.

One reason that you cannot hardly rip a tire is due to the 90L pedal reflash. It will prevent you from doing so when it sees wheel spin over 20 mph that doesn't match the front movement of the tires, and your foot on the brake. I believe that is how it works.

Anyway, if you want to rip some tire spin, pull out your ABS relay. That will bypass the 90L pedal flash which is standard on your truck.

Get the new factory looking s/c smaller pulley from URD. Dealership won't be able to tell and will get you a noticeable increase in power.

You can also add the Airaid intake. Not sure if that will void a warranty or not? But I seriously doubt it.

I agree though, for 5k I was expecting atleast a catback exhaust and intake, plus i feel like toyota is shafting us with a 3" pulley lol. The toyota dealership i bought my truck at said a CAI is not compatible with the trd supercharger, I think they could have said a more honest answer regarding emissions or AFR. 2012s + gotta move the air pump, so maybe thats why? I think my truck can make 60k w/o breaking anything though so im leaning on voiding the warranty. IDK how you feel about that with your 100k but there has been a link posted on this page for stock style pulleys!
But like Tor said, press the TRAC OFF button and you may get better results for smoking a lil rubber!!!! Everytime I start my truck I turn that damned trac control off :)
Edit: You should definitely feel a major difference with it off

Yup +1 on turning traction off. The later flashes make it even worse. You should be able to smoke those tires... I could burn my 33" KM2's with just intake/exhaust on my '10... the SC should make it that much easier.

Also.... the tranny should feel incredibly solid... if it's not you might have an issue...

I just picked my 2012 Supercharged Access cab and love it! You definitely have to turn the traction control off to do a burnout. I was spinning the tires while rolling at 5-10 mph. You can feel the power at WOT for sure. I like it......like it a lot!!

But don't forget, I am in 40 degree weather at just a tad over sea elevation, so my air is suitable for horsepower.

Mine is feeling much stronger. With traction control off at 20 mph I can roost them as we'll. I want more power. But I am a Telecom Engineer, not a mechanical head so don't want to do any work myself.

Seems CAI voids warranty if you have a SC.

I may be wrong but your truck is lighter than mine. Prob makes a little difference. It's 50 degrees in Ohio so same there.

I expected way to much. That is the issue. It runs strong for a double cab truck with a 4.0

Really? Who said that it voids the warranty?

Get the new URD pulley. It will add some extra power and remain hidden, just the way you need it.

The Access cab probably is lighter than the Double cab, good call. I wasn't expecting too much, so it was right in line with what I was expecting.

Also if you change out the pulley and get caught, your warranty is up. You are correct. I am not sure about a CAI, but the paperwork says the warranty is void. Most dealerships don't mind about a CAI since they make minimal impact compared to other horsepower producers.

Actually the access cab weighs slightly more, but it's virtually negligible... lol.

Just keep in mind, every mod you do with the TRD flash... makes it run that much leaner, that much more dangerous. It's a very very bad tune.

FPR mod helps with that.

It by far isn't the best tune, I agree. However, there are those that are having very good luck with it. While running 9.. psi. And the FPR mod of course.

Good to know about the tune! I really don't have any more horsepower mods in the future other than cat-back exhaust honestly. I already have one project car. This Tacoma is my safe daily driver, or is supposed to be! With a 100k extended bumper to bumper warranty, I won't risk it......just yet! ;)
