Yeah, the only draw back is that it is welded, so it would either be a tire eater or a dedicated crawler that you tow.

Almost the same tires n0rth is running. If those are bias ply they probably wouldn't make a very good DD tire though.

I haven't ever looked into the difference but bias vs radial. Bias tires are older technology and don't ride well or wear well. My uncle told me that whatever I do don't ever buy bias tires. haha and he knows his shit. I would still buy them through for a wheeling set.

Bias ply tires have softer tread and stiffer sidewalls

I didn't say they were bias, I just said they could be. TSL's come in both bias and radials. n0rth's are radials.

I read up on it a little and apparently bias are a bunch of layers (called plies) of rubber (which is where the whole 6 ply, 8 ply, 10 ply thing came from) but because of that method of moulding they are really stiff rubber and the sidewall and tread move together so the side walls don't flex well and the tires don't absorbs bumps very well at all.

Radials don't have layers (why they moved to C, D, and E rated tires, no plies, E are 10 ply equivalent, D's are 8, and C's are 6) and the way they are designed the sidewalls can flex independently of the tread so they absorb bumps better and can flex better without affecting the handling of the vehicle.

Gotcha. Well wouldn't want them for wheeling then.

um i dont think the stiffer side wall is correct i think they are the same as far as side wall but the tread flex's more because bias ore not steel belted tires. i could be wrong but i think thats it.

From what the michelin website said, bias are really stiff and inorder for the sidewall to flex the tread has to move in some way with it or vice versa to compensate.

Lots of guys run them for wheeling actually. I imagine they are still good at low psi and low speeds. They are just awful to drive at higher speeds I guess.

Exactly! haha, although is username locked up front? he runs 37's, but those LT axles are probably stronger than oems anyway.

Yep he does has an ARB up front. Just read his build thread. Wonder how often he uses it and how many cv's he has gone through.

Well your cvs are stronger then ours plus the LT ones are even more strong so I'm not totally surprised by that. For me on tundra axles..probably not haha

stupid CV's anyways. cant wait to get a SA under the truck. even though ill probably to the CV conversion to it eventually. Those are cromolly and as far as ive heard are as strong as 2 ton axles then the weak link moves again.
