Probably already posted, but if not, I've found this helpful.

After years of cross country running, and 60-100 miles a week in college, I definately fall into the ectomorph camp. Been hard to switch from long and slow miles to short and intense training, but have gone from 150lbs @ 6'1 to 185lbs over the past two years, so it has worked well so far.

I'm an ectomorph, I've come to accept I'll never be huge, instead my goal is sheer strength now instead of size

I simply can't give up running no matter how hard I try. Have done P90x a couple of times, but I always end up supplementing some days with running. I've finally settled on doing 20-40 minute runs but with strength exercises every 2-4 minutes: pushups, pullups, situps, burpies, jumps, ect. It probably really messes with my body to mix endurance with strength, but it's all I can do to not just go run 10 miles and lose all my muscle, ha!

If you're a more lean dude naturally, then I would play to your strengths (no pun intended:p) instead of trying to get big. I've realized I'll never be a huge workhorse, but I can be fast, agile, and still strong. Shorter guys who are lean can be even quicker, and can control their body a lot better since they don't end up lanky.

its rough if you are not used to waking up early, or if you arent a morning person. I recently started waking up early to go to a small group personal training class - works alot with kettle bell training / crossfit like things...its been a good supplement to my regular workouts. :) Love my sleep but enjoy what that class gives me a little more.:D
