    back to bone stock.
    help me reset my sensibilities.

i have a next door neighbor. family with kids..nice enough. but they are kinda inconsiderate. they have family get togethers late into the night..and apparently, it is customary in their culture to stand at the doorway yelling goodbye to the departing car, while the passengers in the departing car yells goodbye back..strange..and loud. whatever.

they leave their front yard a mess. crap everywhere, tools..anyone needs a free shopvac..i got a source. i put up a "good neighbor" fence. cost me $1700 and they ponied up $500 which they said was all they could afford. the loved the look so much..they did it to the other side of their yard. (what a slap to my face..they apparently had the money)..water under the bridge..whatever.

fast forward to now. this fence that i essentially paid for to keep their crap in their yard..they now hang rugs and carpets to dry..they just drape it over the fence. makes my yard look very ghetto. i asked them to not leave them like that once..they took it all down. it is back. there is a nasty stained car rug hanging on the fence. i see it when i look out my window. it has been there for a week..then it rained and got wet..so it will be there for another week i suppose.

they come over to ask for tools all the time..and chicken eggs. i try to be nice. my wife says i am too sensitive.

am i that "get off the lawn" guy?

    fire away friends.

I would act the same way. I would probably just start throwing their shit away if they kept leaving it on the fence. Sooner or later they will get tired of "losing" their shit, and will stop hanging crap.

That fence between your yard and theirs should be untouched. If you feel your words aren't going anywhere with them, you might wanna take actions against them... Knock that rug off the fence into their yard, I think they will get the point.

Yeah, you are probably too nice. I'd ask them again to take those things off of your fence.

Can't wait to hear what all the Internet tough fellers would do if that was THEIR fence.

I have inconsiderate neighbors similar to yours. They've become so annoying that even when they do something that isn't annoying, it still pisses me off!

My neighbor used to hang carpets over the walls, I hated it. I asked her to stop and she would give me a ton of lip.

SO I'd just take my box knife out, cut the carpet off that was hanging on my side and throw it over the wall.

Do you have HOA? If yes report it to HOA, they will get violations. Do not borrow your tools to anyone but good friends. As said previously knock the crap off the fence or throw it away.

I agree that you have the right to be upset but I think you went slightly wrong by taking their money to put up the fence. In their mind, they have money invested in the fence so they see it as shared property. I think you would have been better off paying for the fence on your own, it would have been cheaper in the long run. Hind sight being 20/20, do you feel you can just have a conversation with them? You do have to live next to them so I don't think you'd really want to start something that could get ugly.

Na you dont see people building houses right on the border. A fence is a sort of sacred barrier respected by both sides of it. You dont cross it. You dont hang rugs on it.

I gotta know OP, what race are they? Not trying to be a racist buuuut I have an idea...
