We've always wanted a dog like this, and it's going to be hectic with all the animals but we may never get a chance to get a dog like this for free again. We're excited to have her. When we pick her up we're going to talk to the people at the pet store and see what they've been feeding her and continue to and if it's too expensive then we'll slowly switch by adding more and more of the other food to her current food throughout so it doesn't mess her stomach up. Any other tips on Dane's are welcome!

Congrats on the new addition!! She is really cute.

Since she is a giant breed puppy you probably don't want to do a really rich intense puppy food-- giant breeds should grow slowly and evenly until about 24 months old.

For skin issues I love to supplement with Grizzly Salmon oil but the salmon oil/fish oil they sell at Costco and at drugstores will work too. The Omega-3s are really healthy. Plus I have noticed better skin and coat, and less inflammation. I also add some unrefined virgin coconut oil in their food, also for skin, joints, and overall less doggy smell.

The Natura company is quite reputable and makes a food I like to recommend called California Natural. It is reasonably priced and they make some formulas with simple ingredient lists that are better for allergy dogs, versus a food full of corn, wheat, soy, multiple grains, or multiple proteins. Plus you'll have less poop to pick up with less fillers and bonus, can feed less food since each cup has more nutrients.

Diamond makes a grain free dog food called Taste of The Wild. They also make a similar grain free dog food called Nature's Domain, this is sold at Costco and is the least expensive grain-free food I have seen. Three friends use this for their dogs too and for the price they really love it.

The best purchase I ever made was pet insurance. I have PetPlan. Over the years they have written me checks for over $3500 of unplanned medical expenses-- broken molar, strange lumps, foxtail inhaling, more lumps, attacked by another dog, etc.

Sleeping in the car. Their seat thing is pretty cool - it keeps them in place and somewhat safe.
