I just found out that our keyless entry remotes are waterproof! Wifey put it through the wash, came out clean and in well working order. Maybe she knew it all along and was just helping me keep my stuff clean?

I do not know why they are waterproof but they are waterproof. I went scuba diving into lake with my keys about ohh... I don't know... like 20 times all by mistake... forgetting to hide keys somewhere. One time I actually bought a so called "waterproof" box that I went diving with. Needless to say it opened up under water, keys got lots... spent most of my dive trying to find them on silted bottom. About an hour afterwards I found them and after all those adventures my remote still works. Never took it ocean diving though...

They aren't waterproof, just not enough voltage to fry anything and they are not running constant power while they are not being used. Mine's been soaked a few times. Take it apart, let it dry no issues.

My wife put her phone through the wash and read that if you put it in a bowl of rice it will take the moisture out. It worked she has had the phone for another 6 months

Just saying, I opened it and found not a drop of water. I saw the was an O-ring seal which kept it out. If they weren't waterproof, or at least highly water resistant, a full wash cycle would have at least forced some water in. Whatever they are, I was a happy camper.
