It was about 25 years ago more like it. Nowadays,we hardly core anything. If so,a company does it,or we install sleeves, knockouts before the pour.

    What're those?
So this is something I can just rent from a power machinery place? Honestly I've never had any experience with concrete and wouldn't even know what I would be looking for

French drains are generally a drain rock filled trench , open at the surface , with perforated pipe in the bottom or cast concrete or plastic sections of open drains with a metal or plastic grate on top .

Either way , their intention is to capture and direct surface water.

Yes , you can rent a coring machine at most rental centres

Here is the master bedroom from when we bought it:
    paper7.jpg

Here's the bedroom with the wallpaper removed.
    bedroom.jpg

    bedroom2.jpg

Here is the painted room. We used Martha Stewart Living metallic paints from Home Depot. The darker paint is called "Lightforce Frontier" and the stripe is a gold metallic.
    bedroom3.jpg

We made the stripes by taping off the wall with 2 strips of 3" blue tape. I then used two small sections of tape at the top, middle and bottom to space out the next stripe.
    bedroom4.jpg

Here's a different project that I just finished. My wife and I bought a small firepit from Home Depot. I think it was about $100. It looks like this:

    firepit original.jpg

The pit used small camping style propane bottles. Each bottle lasted about 2.5 hours on low. So she wanted to try and hook up a larger propane bottle. We talked about putting the bottle under the deck and drilling a hole for the line to feed through. But it wouldn't be very portable.

So I took some spare plywood and built an octogon box with an open base that was big enough to cover the propane bottle. I cut a hole in the top to feed the line through and allow the base of the firepit to slip through, hiding the controls inside the box. Then I bought a conversion hose (large bottle to small stove size bottle). Then I covered the base with some of the faux stacked stone that was left over from doing the dining room wall and closet. I cut an access door in the side so I could access the gas knob. You can barely see the door on the left side of the column about 1/2 the way down. I removed the base from the legs and set the top on the pit base. It's light enough that I can easily lift it off when I need to change the bottle. Here's the final firepit:

Do Christmas lights count? Because I spent the better part of this afternoon installing them. :D

    Edit:

Think I should start a "Holiday" Lights thread. :D

I have not done much but clean it up! I have spent a little time putting up the drywall in the Man cave and trying to get the rest of the design completed.

    Hey all,
I got the garage insulated and drywalled, blew insulation in the ceiling, awesome machine! hardly dusty. The garage is a good 10*C warmer even without a heat source.
I am now focusing back to the basement and am installing Roxul for sound proofing in the walls and ceilings. Question is for the ceilings should i push the batts up to the floor or leave them flush with the bottom of the joists? All pics to follow.

i meant something that prevents water from pooling all over the garage and getting anything ont he floor wet. i have a wooden tool bench and the floor pools some water near the legs. wondering if anyone used a mat or border of some sort to keep it isolated to under the car area only
