easy to find 15" steelie for my 5lug

Planning on installing some 15" At tires on my sons 99 5 lug. Any suggestion on a easy to find steel wheel. Wrecking yard special. The current wheel is the stock 14" 5-114.3 lug pattern.

You could swap rims from: Avenger, Laser, Stealth, 3000gt, Starion, Galant, Eclipse, Diamante, Rav4, Tribute, Mpv, 929, 626 (15x6), Protégé 2002-on, Rx-7 (93-96), Millenia

 

I found some Ford Explorer 5 on 4.5 x 15 steel wheels that should do the job. The off set looks better that the above import wheels. I'll get some pics posted soon.

 

Just FYI about that list of cars, I took the wheels off my '02 RAV4 and tried to install them on my '98 5-lug. Didn't fit, the RAV4 wheels' hub center bore diameter is too small.

On any of those cars, I'd double check the center bore before buying. I think the 1st gen 5 lug taco center bore is 72.6mm.

Edit: I was off on the center bore. It's actually 67.1mm according to other forum posts I've found. The Rav4's center bore was 60.1mm so I was still correct about it's center bore being too small for our 5-luggers.

 

Joyotaco thanks for that, I did pull a spare from the Ford Explore and ran a test fit. All appears to be good. I like the off set too, it seems better than the car rims we were looking at. I'll have the wheels in a few weeks and post some pics then too.

Wasn't sure if you were still on the hunt and I know they're not 15" steelies, but in case you were interested in seeing I just got a set of 08 Mustang 17x8s with 225/55R17's put on. With the 45mm offset, they tuck in a fair amount (the backspacing is 6.5", my stock wheels are 5"), but because they're such a wider wheel, the rears are flush with the body and the fronts stick out by about 1/2" at most. The tires will rub the front sway bar, but they don't touch the frame at all. They miss by just 1/16th of an inch on full lock.







Just thought I'd share in case you or people searching wanted to know.

 

Discount sells the basic spare tire style (round holes) for around $55 each.

Here's what we ended up with. Kids super happy and the truck doesn't look half bad.
i stuck a spring spacer (approx 2") in it with these wheels. If i do this again i'll spend the money for the lift spindles.

What size tires did you put em on?

 

yeah thanks, they really changed the ride and feel of the truck a lot. Like I said earlier another 1-1/2 to 2" would have really made a perfect lift with these tires and wheels. Next time we will spend the dollars and get a drop spindle lift set up.
