Sounds like the balance is way off...have them re-balanced

Been down that road many, many times the past 4 years. I wish it were that simple. Road force balance, new tires & rims hasn't cured it.

Dont really think my dealer is pumping sunshine up my skirt.
She called me back again, and said she has it straight from the top:
the fix is getting very close to being completed.
She has insisted she get one of the first parts repair for me.

My steering wheel shakes when im braking. Any suggestions on what the problem might be, because i recently got my tires rotated aligned and balanced andy lug nuts are torqued at 100. And last week i just bled my brakes if that has anything to with it but im still having the shaking while shaking problem.

Shanking while braking is most likely warped rotors

yea the rotors are warped, any legit shop will be able to turn them, and if they say they are below spec, make sure they show you bc alot of places pull that shit bc they want to upsell rotors

I just bought a 08 TRD Sport Prerunner with 42k miles. The steering wheel shakes around 55mph sometimes... but not all the time. The dealer had put brand new tires on so Monday I'm getting them rebalanced at Discount Tire. Hopefully that fixes it and it's not a steering rack problem.

bilstein set at 1.75, Racho 5000 rear with 4 leaf kit, floor mats, high lift jack, pull hook in hitch, bed rail corner braces, severe duty brake pads and devil horns on the grill....
I was getting a shake out of my studded snows at around 50-65 or so...after a few weeks of doing nothing, I did a static balance with a cheap HF static balancer and 2-3 ounces of stick on weights per front wheel, shake is gone...

I had a terrible time keeping my 94 toy pickup running with a shake in the front...I keep wondering if the cheap steel aftermarket wheels are part of it.

    Details:

    '11 Access cab 4x4, 6 cylinder, 6 speed

    Time: 30 minutes
    Cost: materials on hand

Sometimes, just trying a different tire machine can make a tremendous difference

That would be up to you. If you don't want them post them up as a trade "locks for lugs" someone will get locks and you will get your needed lugs

I have a 12 trd and it vibrates a little at high speed. How bad is the shakes that you all refer to? Any vids?

Update on my shaking. I finally figured out it was the tires/wheels. After the fronts were rotated to the rear, shaking stopped. Now here's the confusing part...

One mech says it was an out of round wheel and showed me the balancer that specified this. Two months later I'm about to replace the wheel, this mech says it's the tires and that the wheel is true. He says all oversize tires are prone to uneven wear or cupping as he termed it, that can cause the vibration. He continued by saying even his tires do this. I have a hard time believing this but on his road force machine both wheels did spec as true.

Anyone else have tires that cause vibration? After replacing tires the shakes went away?

I never thought about this. Dude, you make a REALLY good point there! That might explain my sudden start of vibration at certain speeds.

Mud absolutely causes vibration. i get vibes all the time from mud wheeling. as soon as i get under the truck with a pressure washer, and clean it all off.. vibes are gone. my recommendation.. dont let it fully dry before washing.. it a bitch once it dries. lol

also, i sub'd to this thread awhile ago.. since i had vibe problems.. they were fixed with a simple tire balance.

Yeah how do you avoid that if you live far away from where the mud actually is?!

I usually find a self serve car wash and knock off the big chunks when I hit the nearest town...

Mine started immediatly after my front lift was installed. Steering wheel started shaking pretty bad at 52 mph to 60 mph. Got a road force balance this weekend and problem solved.
