Good pair of midbass woofers to go with 10w6 sub?

ok so i have a 10w6 sub in my 05 tacoma access cab, ive been searching the internet for a good pair of front door woofers, i want good midbass cause i listen to alot of rock so i want the drums to sound good. I also want it to match the power of the w6 so my system will sound balanced. Any suggetions?

 

You need to start your search with some good deadener.
You need to prep your doors before doing anything with a new speaker.

 

yep...what johnecon said. Even stock speakers sound pretty tight with deadened doors. The difference is night and day.

 

I would strongly recommend Mr. Marv's Hybrid Audio group buy. The HA component set is awesome! With a properly deadened door, powered by a properly tuned amplifier with enough power, the speaker will sound like one twice it's actual cost with a mid bass unmatched by any component set in it's price range.

thanks for actually answering my q torenapart. i was lookin at those, kinda pricey but i heard they were good. should i just get them for the front door? or should i get the rear door speakers too?

 

Glad to help. The others are right though. Definitely make the investment of your time and do the sound deadening. It improves the sound enormously.

As far as having 2 or 4 component speakers, it just depends on the sound you want. I would recommend just starting with the components in the front. Doing so will give you a great sound stage once properly tuned. Having them in the front and back will give you a super loud all around. It's totally your personal preference, but I am very confident you won't be disappointed with starting with the fronts and then deciding what you need after that.

Personally, in an access cab I wouldn't even bother changing the rear speakers from stock unless you have some old ones laying around. You really just want some "rear fill". I clipped the tweeter on my rear 2-way coaxial so nothing over ~3000 Hz is played behind the front stage.
All of this is with the assumption that you have installed an aftermarket head unit.

I also cant emphasize how awesome Mr. Marv is. I would suggest making a list of the questions you want and giving him a ring later in the evening. He is very knowledgeable and very honest. He will not steer you in the wrong direction.

Can anyone explain how to do this safely? I need more midbass and am lost on how to get more from my set-up. I have tweeked with the amp and settings/crossovers on my Alpine 9887 HU with no luck. I get a little midbass but I listen to a lot of metal (Lamb of God/Killswitch Engage) so good midbass is important for the drums.

I am running Image Dynamics CTX65 6.5" components up front in the doors that are deadened pretty good with Fatmat. For the rear doors I am running Image Dynamics 6.5" coaxs with no sound deadening. All speakers are powered thru an Alpine PDX-5 amp. Getting about 75watts or more to each speaker.

I have my ID V3 10" sub crossed at 80hz, mids at 125hz and highs at 200hz. Sounds pretty good with these settings but am hoping to get a little more out of it.

Also my deck has adjustable slopes as follows: Flat/6/12/18/24dB oct
What exactly do these adjusments do. It sounds louder when I set the highs at 12 opposed to 24?

Any recommendations on amp or HU settings would be appreciated.

To clip the tweeter on a set of coax's, it is as simple as snipping the braided wires that connect the tweeter.
