I was watching modern marvles last night and it was about Alaskan tech. they talked about what you need for a car or truck for it to start in the winter there.
    1.Oil pan heater
    2.Trans fluid pan heater
    3.Coolant heater
    4.Battery heater
Its alot of stuff but the temp can go down to -60 in Fairbanks.
There is a place there called Ken's Fairbanks Alignment who installs all this heating stuff. He showed how he does it.
Thought you might like to know.

Is the temperature sensor that's on the same wire as the horns important to have at the front of the engine bay by the grill? Cause I have it back behind the fuse box with the horns right now. Wondering of I need to seperate it and put it at the front by the headlights.

Your ambient temp reading on your compass display won't be accurate anymore. I would try to keep it towards the front of the engine compartment.

Sounds like a marketing ploy. Convenient that the same guy that talks about these things also happens to own a shop that will happily install them for you.

Thanks for the info. Been talking to the Alaska guys and luckily Anchorage doesn't get as cold as Fairbanks.

Yea temp readout will be the temp of the engine bay if you put it back there. Should go in front, like where mine is that you saw yesterday.

Yeah not that it's accurate at all even when it's in the stock place though

True, but since he tells you what you need, and showes you some what what to do you can do it yourself.

All those things came on my truck from Fairbanks when I bought it. I wouldn't see that as a marketing ploy, I see it as a necessity, and possibly he has a corner on the market in Fairbanks. Marketing ploy or not, that shit needs to be on your vehicles, or you have no transportation.

Just the man trying to keep you down. Don't let them tell you what you "need"! If the man cared about you then they would just give you those things no charge....free love. Can you pass the Doritos? Here, take a hit and pass it on :rasta:

Done with both of my diffs and T-case. My truck has a little over 105,000 miles on it.
The 2 diffs oil came out BLACK and my T-case came out the color of coffie. But all new oil in and the old skid plate back on.

I need to do that. Probably take care of it this winter. Definitely before Moab.
