I dont think so and it depends where you live so if your worried get underneath your truck and treat it with an anti corrosion agent

if you use some sort of frame protectant you'll be pretty good. i live in the north east so my frame looked like a disaster when i first got the truck. i think i may have it under control now, but the previous owner did nothing to help prevent the rust so i was behind the 8 ball from the beginning.

Nope. There are Already 2 gen trucks with completely rusted frame ( as disintegretaded) so far Toyota is keeping that under the cover.

99 4Runner springs all around: 1" over factory.
It might help to bolt a couple of pieces of zinc directly on to the frame. It works as a sacraficial metal.

I would assume they are taking care of customers just like they did with the 1st gen correct?

Iv'e seen this done at prime toyota here in Saco. Whole new frame. They completely swapped frames on a 05, soo Iv'e been fluid filming religiously.

No links but yeah there are first 2gen trucks with frame like you would not believe. New England as usually is first.

I think those trucks getting frame replaced under warranty just like Tundras, 4 runners and Sequoias.

I hope a re-call comes out soon. I got an 05 sport with 30k on and want to puke when I look at the frame.

The problem I believe is the coating. It it even crappier than a can of spray paint.

My other trucks by different makers never looked like my 06 does. There is not paint left on the frame anywhere. It is a horrible oversight.

That only works underwater for galvanic corrosion/electrolysis.

    Pics please?

I'm curious. I live in the south east, so rust is a minimal concern for me - it rarely happens, and when it does it's very slow. You can literally let it go for months and then remedy the situation with steel wool and a can of primer.

I'd like to see what some of the frames look like in bad-weather areas....esp. great lakes region/north east.

This is the only pic I have loaded at the moment but as you can see, there is not paint left. I bought the truck this way. It lived its first years in Southern Wisconsin and now is the Chicago suburbs. I have seen other pics posted that are much worse.

Toyota needs to get with the program on a coating that works.
