Has anyone had a problem with headlights burning multiple times..I use a rubber glove on and put bulb grease on the connectors. I had to replace driver headlight in January , May and November ( other night) . Passenger headlight burnt out in June. Ive been using Sylvania Silverstar 9003st bulbs from Autozone. I'm assuming its not fuse since both of them don't go out at the same time. Is it wiring ? My friend is a mechanic he said tacoma have a lot of electrical issues in general which im supirsed since i havent heard anything about that here . Any ideas ?

Your friend sounds like he just doesn't like Toyotas.

Make sure that you don't touch the bulb itseld when you install it. Even with rubber gloves on.

I would switch to a standard bulb and then test how long they last.

Silverstars aren't known for long life.

They seem to be better now than they used to be, but back in '03/'04, I was going through one every 3 months on my Tundra.

I haven't used Silverstars in awhile but my last experience was when I used them in my WRX in '04-06. I would generally burn a bulb every 1-2 months. I got used to buying new ones and returning the burnt out one as the new one every time. It got old and I went back to stock. Think the bulbs might just be bogus. I've had better luck with 5000k $7 a pair shipped bulbs on eBay which is sad.

I've had the truck over 3 years. I've had the front end sitting in water for over an hour wen I had an incident with very very deep water. I literally had to dismantle the headlights and clean them out since they were full of water.

That being said, I'm still on the stock headlight bulbs that were installed when the truck was built and I've never once had any type of electrical issue.

The silverstars come with a warranty for 12 months since they know they do not last as long as standard bulbs.

    Need the receipt for warranty.

Not a toyota issue, it is a user/bulb issue.

Used to work at Kragen. The light bulbs were a 90 day warranty. We swapped them out all the time. I think they even said on the package that they were intended to put out more light, at the expense of longevity.

I can tell you I have spent approx $400.00 in the last 24 months on light bulbs, marker lights and fog lights. I have had it checked at the dealership and they tell me there is not an issue with the truck. I have used every bulb known to man that will fit and the same longevity for each. I have a couple of friends having the same issue!!:mad:

Check the voltage to the lights and the voltage coming from the alt while running. Also get a DMM with an inductive amp probe and see what kind of amps your lights are pulling. Should give you an idea of where your electrical system is at.

    Why not replace with OEM?
