Who cares! This is a forum for discussing all kinds of BS, maybe just to kill time.

I second that. Didn't know there'd be dudes in here moderating whether a topic has or has not been discussed. I can spend all day replying bull shit to all threads.

Oh there's always a malcontent waiting to spew negativity about a topic or an OP's perceived lack of search prowess. LOL and ignore it. Although I'll admit some topics can get irritating at times.

Also, I gotta admit I'm just enough of a redneck myself to be intrigued by the thought of a diesel Taco. Especially if it could cut my commute fuel $ in half or even by 1/4.

There is a company that will do the D4D swap to a Tacoma. There is a TW member who had the unique opportunity to test drive one as well. Cost is the issue... IIR the swap ran upwards of 20K.

    Come on PowerBall!

Yep I've seen some posts as well. Makes you fantasize about finding a cheap 2nd gen with a blown motor but otherwise good shape.

Diesel engines get better mileage. They also put out a lot more torque at a lower rpm. Therefore, they are ideal for towing and hauling. Right now I get about 20 MPG with my 4.0 AC Tacoma, In my 7.3 liter Powerstroke I got about they same MPG but a lot more torque. Back then diesel was cheaper than gas but these days diesel is getting pretty spendy. I also have a TDI Jetta that averages about 45-50 mpg and has a range of around 750 miles. You can't argue with numbers like that that diesel is not a more efficient fuel alternative. They also run solely on compression (no spark plugs) this means that the block and components have to be built to withstand a higher compression ratio. A by product of this is that engine components tend to last a lot longer, my diesel had close to 400k on all original internals the only thing I replaced was various filters, belts, glow plugs, and fluids obviously. You can also modify diesel engines a lot easier and cheaper than gasoline engines. A CAI on a gas engine will net 0-10 HP, whereas on a diesel you get close to 100 HP from a CAI.

Plus you can't beat the sound of a turbo spooling up.

Not true on all counts except weight.

You don't NEED to wrap high RPM with a power curve that looks like this...

Do half you people even understand how a diesel works, or why the engine sounds like it does?
