We made a plan to do all of our Christmas shopping in that mall, the inlaws will be watching the kids. We are going to get up late and do head to the mall. Have lunch at Yardhouse. We are going to eat good and try as many beers that we can then do our Christmas shopping!!! That sounds like the best idea of the year. Eat, Drink, Shop!!!! :D

I bet I could stretch 4 or 5 meals out of 1 roaster chicken. I need to watch what I eat and how much I spend for the next couple of months. I am building a mt bike so I need all the cash I can save by Spring. Building an AR as well so there goes all my moneys, truck gets none.

Man this is getting crazy with the hobbies. I am thinking about doing either a down hill FS or a 29er FS. Either of them are going to be big bucks. I have the range in mind between a Nine WFO 9 and something crazy which I dont need like the Santa Cruz V10 used of course. I have no idea. The AR will definitely be cheaper then the bike. Just the basics with a good scope and either a bipod or a foreword handle.

    Agreed with above!

A roasted full chicken at Bjs is 5$.
8-10$ worth of farmers market veggies.

That's a week's worth of lunches of varying kinds for me, including two days of salads.

Plus, I use the carcasses of two or three birds to make stock, which I then freeze either in ice cube trays or 1-cup metal forms. Throw a bunch in a ziploc baggie in the freezer and they're perfect for spot duty, quick sauces, etc.

That's a weeks worth of lunches, a bunch of stock for soups and sauces and gravies, for under $15. And its healthy as shit compared to vending machine food and pre-packaged stuff too.

    Win/win/win.

Xaks that is a good idea. I would have to make the chickens myself though. I like to get creative with seasonings. Plus as you bake or roast chicken in the house it smells amazing and it heats the house up too.

Haha, congrats! (I just bought a new bike yesterday so I'm in a similar boat)

Hopefully we can avoid the "Ramen thread."

I have the carcass from that chicken I roasted in my slow cooker right now. Going to make a version of pho ga. I have some lime, jalapenos, sliced carrots, chicken meat, Thai basil & Sriracha ready to go in there on top of rice noodles. Just a different spin on chicken soup.

You guys might like this recipe, sorry no pics but I will the next time I make it:

Cut carrots and cucumbers into long thin strips. Put them in a dish with chopped jalapenos (if you want), lime juice, and fish sauce and let them marinate while you do the rest. I also add julienned Thai basil because it's my one of my favorites.

Take 1-2 lbs ground turkey and mix with chopped onion, chopped jalapeno, an egg to bind it together, a splash of fish sauce, and some lime zest. Salt and pepper. Form into small patties, slider sized. Cook them in a frying pan or you can put them on a broiler tray.

Put one or two slider patties in a leaf of lettuce (I use butter lettuce) and top with the veggie marinade plus a squirt of sriracha. Wrap it up and eat.

Even the leftovers of this are yummy. I don't use much fish sauce in the burgers or veggies bc it isn't my favorite, but I like the extra flavor it provides. Plus the ingredients are cheap (turkey is on supersale right now, I just put some in the freezer) and healthy.

Oh, yea, I roast my own or make one in the crock all the time. Totally agree with you on smelling the house all up nice too.

But, for some that isn't really an option, and in the context of a small-budget lunch selection for the week, I added in cheapo way to get a pretty good one. If you don't have a club membership, many larger supermarkets also sell them like this nowadays too.

What kind of bike did you buy??? And the recipe sounds really good. I got to take a bike ride today on the most difficult trail around a lake near my house. I took it the opposite way i have been taking it thinking it would be easier. Man was I wrong. Got to get out to an actual trail....
