I did this but added an in line fuse(10 amp). Fogs DO NOT come on after car is off. They stay on with side markers, highs/ lows, and everything off. 2012 TRD sport Pre Runner. Very easy. Just need to switch out fog lamps for Nokya Arctic whites.

You ask why 10 AMPs? well i am going to put two 55W lamps in so 110 W total. P=VI; I=P/V 110W/ 12V= 9.1A total draw current to light these up.

I just did this method as well. A little bit of a pain to release the clips to allow the spades to come out, but works perfect. Fogs work in all positions of the lights, dtrl, parking, low, and high. Fogs also turn off with the key.

I have a 2012 TRD 4x4 O/R. I do not have heated seats. This is how I did mine.

On the bottom relay I bent out the bottom left prong and slide on a female connector. I pushed the relay back in place. Sits a little skiwhampus, but it's in there.

On the top relay I slide in the other end of the raw wire into the bottom right port. I have a 3 amp fuse in the line.

For one reason or another when I turn off the truck and if the fog light button is set to on, then after like 30 minutes the fog lights turn on on their own for about 1 minute. They shut off on their own. Not sure why this happens, but it has not created any problems for me. I just depress the fog light switch after I turn off the truck and the fogs don't switch on on their own.

because you tapped into the evap system which tests the vehicle after shut down to look for leaks... not ideal.

Hi, Just completed this switch of lightgreen for red/black. Works great! Fogs on whenever you want and off when ignition is off. Thanks for the help never knew why this wasn't available from factory.:)

Glad this is easy to reverse....inspector at the dealership wouldn't pass my truck with the mod. Pulled my fuse in the jumper rendering the fogs inop....wouldn't pass it still saying they had to work...had to rebend the pin and all that to pass inspection

Just turn them off prior to inspection. Fog lights are an option and should not be involved in the inspection. Just think of all the off road lights that would have to be removed according to that dealer. If he persists tell him to fail the inspection and then sue his butt. He cant fail it if it can be shut off.

That was my exact argument with the inspector at the dealer...he refused to inspect the truck if they didn't turn on, and operate properly as installed from the factory. "The only way would be if you remove the bulbs and tie back the harness away from the light fixtures to render them ornamental"

He was completely correct according to VA State inspectors manual, just a little above and beyond a rule stickler.

    http://lis.virginia.gov/cgi-bin/legp604.exe?000+reg+19VAC30-70-160

"11. Fog lamps are not required. However, if installed they must operate and be inspected.
    Inspect for and reject if:"

I tried to reason with the guy but at the end of the day it was easier to just remove the jumper and straighten the pin on the relay!

What gage wire would you guys say that is on the OEM harness? Trying to figure out what type of splice I want to use and what wire I'm going to get. Thanks

This looks the easiest with protection lol. I'm guessing you're running 35w fogs. What type of fuse is it though.
