I have guard dogs in 285/75/16 and drive 40 miles up the interstate one way to work. They are great. They ride smooth, sort of loud but you get used to it, and grip better than the duratracs I had in the snow. It's obviously up to you to make your own opinion, but for 100 bucks each you really can't beat it. Treadwright also warranties the tires and will replace them if anything is wrong with as little as a picture sent to them of what's wrong. I've had the tires for about 5k miles now and they still look brand new, chalk is still between the treads. All my tires took an ounce or less to balance as well.

Thanks, ya the price is hard to beat. When my Nittos wear out, I'm thinking I'm gonna go with a set of these.

I saw someone in live said they asked for BF Goodrich casings, I didn't know you could ask for a certain brand. That's a good idea.

Thanks, how do you like them? Does it look pretty much like a BFG M/T except the tread being different?

Well yes, the casing is that of a BFG M/T with the guard dog tread. I love them.

he is having a hard time balancing them though, if i were you i'd stay away from BFG casings, as they are hard to balance even as virgin tires. :notsure:

This is true, but 2 of them are great and the other 2 not so much, but i am going to contact treadwright tomorrow and see what they can do to help.

    Agreed that is no bueno....

I wonder if the vehicle was overloaded?? and what other variables could've caused it? Too much air, heat, overloaded, etc..
The LC had aftermarket bumpers front n rear, custom storage in the back, aftermarket lockers??, suspension, RTT, 4 people, gear, etc. seems to me, he may have been pushing the limits... IDK tho. Its a good reminder to keep on eye on your total weight tho...

I had treadwrights on my 1st gen and had 0 problems... Would most likely buy them again, but the above thread makes me wonder...

The good reviews I've read outnumber the bad 10 to 1. Any tire can pop.

I've got a little over 10k on my guard dogs and still loving them. Just got back from a 1200 mile road trip, then this weekend went and hit the mud/sand trails with no problem. One of the things I love about them, I can ride the highway and go straight off road and they perform no matter what.

i am on my second set of guard dogs and love them to death
i have kedge grip on mine so they wear faster around 20% according to treadwright
and i got about 35k+ out of them.....granted they had some life left when i swapped them but i don't like riding on almost bald tires....
    no issues here....
on my last set i had a bit of "peeling" where the tread met the core....
    purely cosmetic tho.....

Sweet! Good mileage and the prices are 1/2 of the KM2's I bought. I know what I'm running next.

I have been running these for well over 90k miles. I had 3 sets on my 4runner that I drove roughly 20k miles a year. I had one set of guardogs and 2 sets of the wardens. The guard dogs wore faster and I actually had to do a warranty claim with them. The tire started to peel from the tread, where they blend the old with the new. I called them. Took some pictures. Had a few phone conversations and they shipped me a new set. No questions asked. For me the customer service experience was awesome. With both sets of wardens I had no problems what so ever. I am going to buy them again once my 2013 AC is lifted. I ran 285/70/17 E load tires for my 4runner and I will run the same for the taco. Not to mention a tire is roughly 135 bucks instead of the 250+ for name brands.

Anyone speed tested the wardens? i know we are supposed to be speeding but from what i read a little here that they blow out at 80? when my son was being born in mckinney tx and i was in arlington where i live (about 45 minutes to an hour apart) i did 115 with my BFG's no problem. of course my son will NOT be in the truck and the speeding is only during emergencies but i would for the tires to be ready to handle speeds when needed
