My parents havent become grandparents yet

    I got 2 brothers...one is 23 and one is 26

the 26 year old just refuses to give us any ideas about what he wants...he's a reservist in the USMC, and plays video games and breeds fish

I even showed him how to do an Amazon wishlist and...nada...no response

i told him he better figure it out by the first week of Dec or else I'm spending that money on myself

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
I'll never see that myself. I don't expect anything from him, nor want anything from him.

But I still need to tell my mom what I want... she's the only one left to get me something. But I have no clue  Everything else has been taken care of. Sliders from Erica, ultra gauge from her parents. Red line hood struts from the sister, electric razor for the road from my SIL...

I usually get my brother something for his guns. New holster or something. My grandpa its something with baseball or football. Can never go wrong with lotion ( I forget the store name, but its usually in the malls) for the women. Kids, well, they get kids stuff wich isnt to difficult

I hope neither of my brothers ever needs money

because I aint got shit! and what little bit I am able to save...I'm planning on using that to care for my parents when they inevitably will need it

Which sounds pretty lame and such...but i'm watching my parents have to take care of my 3 remaining grandparents through dementia, a stroke and various other devastating health issues

No, actually, that's not lame, Jeff, that's what we're supposed to do for our parents.

I figure I might as well

A cop salary doesnt provide a bunch of wiggle room to save, but I have very little debt and very few bills...so I might as well

Just usually is seen as strange by others my age because it's not the "i'm saving for a family/house/etc" bs

I have a paid off truck, an almost paid off Harley, less than $2k in cc debt...and I live in a HIGHLY discounted apartment  what else is there to save for besides a bad day?

We're the only country on the planet that shipps our parents off to 'homes' to die, the rest of the planet cares for their elders till they die.

not in my family! My dad had to take the ignition fuse from my grandma's car so she would quit driving  she still lives in the house she bought when she got married 60+ years ago and has made it clear that she will die in that house and we do not have any say in the matter

Unfortunately, she also lives in a town 2 hours away and what's left of my granddads retirement pension etc is barely enough for her to live on and pay the bills...so my parents are footing the bill of someone coming by to check on her every day etc

Luckily both my dad and my uncle have done well for themselves so it's not like it is super financially straining on them but when you add in a 2nd set (mom's side) it can get kind of expensive

One way to look at it. Merica has changed since both the Husband and Wife work full time jobs. There is no one home during the day to provide care. Just my take and not being critical.

And sometimes the folks don't want to live with their kids. My mom always swore she wasn't going to live with any of us... She ddin't want to be "a burden"

My ex-MIL just moved into a home close to her daughter. She loves it, she's got friends and goes on all kinds of outings.

    morning everyone
