So if you turn it on and cold water comes out, it's probably to run a water line to the fridge. If its hot its probably for dishwasher.

Instant hot water dispensors usually have the heating unit in the sink box , plumbed into the cold line yo

I was joking, he didn't mention instant. I figured he was joking that it was just another a hot line.

Why do you want another fridge line near the sink when you said there is a shut off for the fridge water behind the fridge ?

You looking for the other end of the fridge water line ?

 

There is no need for a seperate supply to an instant hot water dispenser , they generally tee off of the cold supply brought to the sink box

 

For the love of god open the valve and see if something comes out! At least find out if it's actually plumbed first. Some plumber was probably bored and had an extra valve laying around, figured he would throw it in there to mess with a future homeowner and have him spend a day on an internet forum trying to figure out what the hell it's for.

 

If the fridge and dishwasher already are supplied it is possible it could be a hot water recirc line , not sure if anybody mentioned that .

I assume your plumbing supplies are Pex ? Is there a main distribution manifold in a service area somewhere in the house ? If not , the fridge supply may just be tee'd off a main cold water supply in the wall somewhere making isolation of it not possible .

 

So this shop just quoted me 700 for full suspension install. Is that what I should expect?
