    thanks!!

i think thats way more intense than im looking...
im not looking to be able to get alot of wheel travel, im just looking for strength. pretty sure this is the 2nd time i have fucked the ring and pinion, is there any upgrades i can just put into my diff to help keep this from happening?

im not the one setting it up, its a shop, and im pretty sure they know what they are doing....

and i think me and him may have different driving styles. being a 4cyl, im in 4lo 24/7 in the dunes, driving fast, with high rpms. im assuming hes in 4 hi with the supercharger and the 3.4.

no need for rear glass on a LT 2nd gen either, check out my build, now if youre going to run wheels spacers and a low offset/backspaced wheel then thats a different story. Im running a standard 4.5'' bs wheel.

I kind of assumed that

4-lo in the dunes? That doesn't seem nesscary, with proper gearing you should be able to use 4-Hi and when you're hitting high speeds you should no longer be in 4wd (Hi or Lo) as the diffs aren't designed for that.

I think there's other factor involved other than the strength of the your front diff.

    trust me its necessary.
4hi i have no power, cant even hold 2nd going up hills in the dunes, you havent been to glamis so you would have to have been in them to understand i guess.
you got to remember im actually in the dunes, not on sand highway, or little baby dunes. im in the biggest dunes possible.
i dont go really high speeds in 4lo, probably 40 MAX.

What gears/tire size? I've driven around glamis with 2wd and a toyota 3.0, which is about the same power as your 4 cy

I don't need to be anywhere to understand the limits of a mechanical system and what it's designed to do. You shouldn't be going over 20 (that's pushing it) in 4lo.

Proper gearing you should be fine and able to do it in 4Hi on all terrains.

okay... i can drive around glamis in a prius too..
im talking duning to china wall, lizard, brawley, through the big dunes behind olds to gecko.

i have 4.88s front and rear with 33x12.5s.
i have more than enough power anywhere i wheel at in 2wd, but duning through the big dunes is a way different story.

okay, is there any upgrades that can allow more stress on a front diff?
isnt 4hi and 4 lo technically the same, all the difference comes from the transfercase right? i really have no idea, just curious.

Safely duning the big dunes in a vehicle isnt going to happen unless you have tons of money
