Invest in engine performance so you can get out of 4lo. That's the only real solution. Like max said 4 high should only really be used to get yourself unstuck when u get stuck in 4high or when your crawling up a steep hill at a slow pace. And yes I have experience being under powered.

Not that kind of money you don't. (NoOffense)

I think the problem is here is at the end of it all you're trying to do something with a truck that simply cannot do it properly or effectively.

Are there upgrades for the front diff of your truck? Yes. Complete custom mounted 9" IFS diffs. Are they worth it? No. As they'd be worth almost as much as your truck, after all the fab work is done and the parts are bought.

A 3.4 Swap would be more feasible then doing a custom strengthened front diff setup.

This. I have been in the dunes a long time and I don't see vehicles in the deep dunes unless its big money. I know you really want to dune your truck but without $100k thats not going to reliably happen, you can do it but like I've said before your taking a major risk of something breaking and losing your truck for good. The problem is your truck weighs to much to rescue from deep dunes. I'm not trying to pick on you buddy I have just seen it and trying to give you my observations. I have witnessed even dirt bikes breaking in spots where you might as well burn them, just sayin :anonymous:

    ...too much shit to list.
Driving style and truck limitations aside, what brand gears did you put in?

Look into cryo treated gears if you aren't going to change your driving habits.

plus even if you are burning through 4LO all day and dont destroy your gears, which shouldnt have broken in the first place, you tranny will be toast before you know it.

He did a set of Yukon high performance 4.88s which IIRC are cryo treated.

i agree, im just so used to riding, going to a truck, i have to be able to dune it or the dunes will be no fun to me at all. staying on sand highway sucks so bad!

and back to me getting stuck in the big dunes, after breakng my 4wd i got stuck in a 40 ft deep witches eye, could only go a foot forward and a foot back. hooked up 3 rhinos up over the other side with a shit load of straps, golden! got out first try :) scared me though, i was like fuck. im ready for a loooong night!

not planning on changing my driving habits, TBH....
i was going to just get the cheaper ones, but i decided i would get the best i could get. VV

doesnt the transfer case do alot of the work in 4lo? i dont really know how it works, sorry for the stupid question.

i think it was really me just mobbing up olds in reverse, cause the gears are meant to be way stronger in forward gear, right?

i blew first gear a few years ago trying to recover from a hill climb. 4LO puts quite a bit of stress on your tranny.

anyone want a Beard Lil Sportster seat?

I have one extra, perfect for 3rd seats as they are smaller than regular buckets, and harder to find used. I came up lucky but only needed one. Seller wouldnt split them up.

EDIT: I'll even sew up that rip just for you TW members
