I'm just a little blown away how people are claiming the 4x4 shock work on 5lug rear and don't mention that the collapsed lengths are different and you will need to lower your bumpstops.

Yes blown away because if someone's carrying a load and hits a bump and breaks their shock leaving them stranded that is unacceptable and im just tryng to document this fact.

So you're saying using your shocks as bumpstops is acceptable?

I'm on my phone, but ill clear it up for you with a period.

People are recommending half fast horse shit. It's the furthest away from even the standard we get from a stock truck.

Obviously we have different levels of standards, so we'll just have to agree to disagree. Thanks for your comments

whoa whoa chillax dudes lol yes prerunner shocks will probably need to modify the bumpstops or shockmounts to avoid damaging the shocks

I meant different stds as I use the truck as a dependable DD and have toys for other shit. I'm just trying to beef this thing up.

I have all the experience I need. Plus I spend the day putting on these shocks. Then welding a solution to drop my bumps then realized I didn't want to lose my up travel. I spent time putting the truck back to the way it was. I've researched my options and am not ready hack err up just yet and do a shackle flip / shock relocation.
I found the fox resi have a tad less compressed length which would let me drop the bumps .25" and all will be fine except shipping back to the vendor and a 20% restocking fee

haha not giving you shit man. good for you for doing your research. the way i see it when modding bumps for a lifted truck its not bad because toyotas configuration of mounting their springs they go into a negative arc at full compression. the lower the bumps are the less negative arc they will sit at

    Time for new tires....

I plan on lowering my truck about 3" -ish in the front and 3.5"-ish in the back.

How tall and wide of a tire can I run on my stock wheels? and what would be the best way to lower it without spending real heavily?

I'm thinking QA1s in front and maybe just blocks in the back?

What about the bell tech shocks or lowering springs for the front? I'm not crazy about the bj flip

downey mid travel 2wd set up

I had a fabtech spindle on my taco with the downey mid travel kit. It worked fine for medium duty off roading. I definitely pushed it to its limits and never broke anything (pure luck), my buddy that i bought the tacoma off of broke several lower ball joints with the fagtech spindle, but he had the ball joints mounted on the wrong side of the spindle.

I'm also running a fagtech lift spingle on my 91 yota prerunner with total chaos ball joint kit and fOA coilovers and i've broken 3 steering knuckle studs. I ended up drilling through the entire spindle and putting a bolt all the way through the spindle in lieu of the bolt threading into it. MUCH stronger set up and haven't had an issue yet with a decent amount of jumping and high speed dirt use. Still all around a shitty spindle to offroad with as it mounts the uca too high and puts too much leverage on the uca pivot point. If you gusset the spindle, and gusset/weld the steering knuckle to spindle and drill through it for the knuckle bolts it'll hold up fine.
