nice. and thanks for info. i have seen a few small pieces before like 6” long and in bad shape, not worth keeping.

i did find a Turkey feather sunday squirrel hunting. sadly thats all i found. did not even see a rabbit, i would have shot it as well. ( squirrel opens 4th sat in august every year and end last day of feb, this year rabbit opened november 3rd and also ends last day of feb every year) (hunting licenses go from march 1st to last day in feb, than you have to get a new one for the year.

I'm in North Alabama, and have hunted for over 35 years. I have only found a very few sheds/pieces. Squirrels eat them up in the South. Next time you find one inspect it close, your very likely to see little teeth marks on it.

Speaking of turkey feathers...we had several turkeys show up on our property after only seeing one hen in 7-8 years of living out there. It was a frigging turkey feather finding bonanza in a couple fields all summer. I have a box of those feathers stashed away now haha. So stoked to finally have some on the place. Haven't seen them for a month or so, but rumor has it they are on a neighbor's place. Hopefully he doesn't let anyone hunt before they get a chance to breed. I really should get some seed bags of turkey forage plants from the NWTF and make some feed plots...really want to have wild turkey for Thanksgiving some day.

yeah, and field mice eat them.
nice man! i put it up by the sun visor on the driver side. lol.

and yeah we do. squirrel has a dally bag limit of 10. and rabbit is 5. you can get bag limit every day if you can get a shot at that many.

we have a season for most stuff. i know coyotes you can hunt them every day of the year just not after dark.

Do y'all have a fall turkey season? Mostly spring here. What species of turkey do you have, Merriams? We (Alabama) have both a squrriel and rabbit season, start at different times, both end Feb. 28th.

Coyote is the same here. Is it specific to tree or ground squirrels? I don't think we have a squirrel season here. If we do it is literally the most un-enforced game regulation ever, especially in Eastern Oregon. A couple dozen a day over there without a whole lot of hassle.

I rarely see rabbit out here and when I do, they are tiny little cotton tails. Never managed to get a shot off at one. Nothing to eat on them anyway.

We have a fall and spring turkey season. Haven't gone turkey hunting yet. Hopefully the little group that showed up on the place will take hold.

Tree, fox squrriels are huge, almost house cat size, and greys are just regular sized. Only ground squrriel we have are chimpmonks, cute little guys, no season.

On the kind of turkey, I was asking Bobert, (Oregon) feathers look like eastern, same as we have in the South. There is a sub-species called Merriums (sp) out west. And yes a grown fox, or red as some call them are huge. Also, out west, there are a few different ground squirrels, stripped and a spotted, maybe more, I thought Bobert might have some stuff you and I don't see. BTW where in TN are you, I'm only about 30 miles from the line.

I honestly don't know anything about turkey species. I'm just stoked we finally have some. I need to start reading up on them.

Our grey squirrels are mostly spotted. I can dig up some PG pics of the ground squirrels I hunt when I get home. Don't have anything not blown up my laptop. Not sure how much blood and guts we can get away with posting.

Eastern on the left, Merriams on the right. The tail feather you showed a pic of looked like an Eastern, but may have been a Rio Grande, not sure of their range.

Hm, they look like Merriams in another picture. I'll have to look at them next time I'm home. I'll get a pic up with good exposure.
