    You got it backwards .

Decertification is a tactic used by the NHLPA , not the other way around .

You're right, I just skimmed the article. I guess that would be pretty terrible for the league. No draft, everyone would become a UFA, this yr and next yr would be scratched....not a good deal for anyone, shouldn't even threaten it.

Decertification of the NHL PA is highly unlikely. It is a desperate attempt by the weakening position of the players to try and threaten the league. If the PA actually went through with it, not only would it hurt the league, but it would hurt most of them. Shitty franchises would fold, being unable to compete financially as TO and NY went to town buying expensive players. Overall there would be less jobs for players as the league naturally contracted.

...and yeah, we'd likely be following a court case for the next 2 years....

CBC Sports' , NHL fan quote of the day

With negotiations making little progress, Saturday's fan's comment comes from CBCSports.ca user Nessecity, who questions whether Bill Daly actually feels badly for fans, and wonders if NHL arenas will be packed again once the lockout comes to an end.

    "And the farce continues...

"We feel badly for NHL fans..." Really?!? Does Bill Daly think we are so stupid that we'll believe anything he says???

They will resolve this impasse eventually, when they've destroyed the game enough to figure out that the money pie they are arguing about has shrunk beyond repair. And they will apologise profusely and tell us how important we are because we're the best fans in the world (which is code for please come back and spend your money so that we can grow the money pie again). But they will not gain back the loyalty of alienated fans.

And to those fans who think that alienated fans like me are only talking the talk, look over a couple of rows to the empty seats whenever the league resumes play... that's I used to sit. See it empty? That's walking the talk, buddy..."

This is why I feel very little attachment to a particular NHL franchise. I am a fan of hockey not corporate hockey. A side of me would like to see the NHL fall apart completely. Mainly because I know you cannot truly destroy hockey. Sadly, people who think this have quite literally been brainwashed. There is incredible hockey being played all over the world as we speak. If we cared to, we would find it. The real problem is, the corporate giant called the NHL has monopolized too many pocketbooks and too much of our emotion. We should all view this moment for what it is: An opportunity to take back what does not belong to the NHL.

This is a start, I guess. I am not sure how corporate mediation works exactly, but if it typifies what I understand as mediation this just means someone will sit in the room and help them communicate productively and with civility with the idea that they can find their own solution. Something they are obviously challenged to acomplish. Too bad the mediator cant present public reports and attitude/pyschological assessments of the proceedings. That would likely provide us with the most entertaining insight to date.:D

I know it's not binding , but I disagree that it means nothing .

I think it signals that both sides want to get a deal done but realize they need a fresh perspective

Then their aim to keep stringing you along is working. One thing I would like is for them to just cancel the season. Get it over with. There have been way too many high and low points to this negotiation already and now I'm just tired of it all. I'm trying to get into football but there's way too many whistles. Hike whistle hike whistle hike whistle -all set

However during the last lockout they brought in a mediator and cancelled the rest of the season 3 days later.
