About three hours it was my first time doing LEDs but it turned out great.

LonghornTaco: I wish i had the 09, that spot you talk about might just be a good spot for the cupholders.

I was going to do this last year, but oznium had the orange lights on back order and they took forever to come in. Mine is a little different in that I have a manual, so I have 3 cup holder sections. The lights I bought were the little orange singles (prewired) so I was going to put one in each section.

You did a great job on this! Gives me motivation to go finish mine now.

Nice! A pic of it all lit up at night would be cool! You know, to get that whole "cockpit" feel. :D

Ok so i finally got some pictures of the lights at night, i did my best to adjust the camera to take the pictures but i did not get the ambient light from the LEDs. It turned out looking like an orange spot kind of, In the truck the lights give off a subtle glow and the pictures do not directly represent the glow all the way. They are still ok though.

I do dig this..enough to possibly try it after I finish some higher priority stuff. Do you use it always when it's dark or can the nostalgia wear off?

I kind of don't mind the orange in these vehicles, and I changed my HU bckgrnd colors to match as well. I think it would be nice if the taco dash was a dark red or blue, but it doesn't bother me.

    Good thread, thanks.

Nostalgia has not worn off yet, since it is on a switch i feel like it can't really get to old. plus since the color is orange there is much more functionality IMHO than say blue or green. This mod can be different for everyone so i guess if you do it right and take pride in your work you could have something that stays fresh every time you flip the switch

I just did a similar mod to my roommate's first gen 04 trd off road but with red leds. It took a few hours but we managed to put one channel light in the bottom center console, one channel lights in each of the foot wells, one 5mm led in each of the cup holders(sanded down), and two red 5mm leds in the back of the center console. This turned out pretty good i kinda like the red now, my set up is a lot more subtle though.

Very nice work! I like the look of ambient light in a vehicle. I wanted to put the led's in the cupholders since I saw the DIY on here.
I'm just not good at electrical work or taking apart a vehicle. I always break those little clips and things never seem to go back together correctly - or I never figure out how to get it apart in the first place.

    Your truck looks awesome!
