Quick question. I'm sure this has probably been asked before but wasn't quite sure how to search for it, so sorry if this a repost.

    I just bought my first Toyota today. It's a 2003 ext. cab sr5 trd 4x4 5spd.

Anyways, the truck is lifted 3" up front and 2" in the back.

I am looking into buying a new set of wheels/tires for the truck soon and have a few questions on fitment.

As far as tires go, I would like to run a 265/75R16, which I am pretty sure is a 32x10.50, correct?

And for wheels, I am planning on ordering a set of wheels that are 16x8 with -11 offset and 4" backspacing. I have no idea what the stock wheel specs are but what I am wanting to know is if these will fit with the current lift the truck has with the tire size I wanted without rubbing? Also, how much will they stick out from under the truck? I want them to stick out a little bit but nothing crazy. Wouldn't mind them sticking out about an inch or so.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have no idea on what wheel fitment is like on these trucks like I know what fitment will be like for my car, so I am completely new to this. Also, would I be able to get away with a bigger sized tire and if so what size?

All help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

Also, been thinking I would like to run a bigger tire then listed.

Maybe something around a 33x10.50r16 or 33x11r16...what would be the metric size for this? And any recommendations? Not looking for a tire that will break the bank. Just want an all terrain tire for the street. Truck will not be off roaded, just a daily driver.

The tires and wheels you have listed in your first post will fit with no problems at all. They should sit pretty flush, perhaps a little inboard of the outside edge of your fender flares.

You can go to a 33" tire in 285/75/16 or 255/8516 but you will need less backspacing on the wheels and will likely have some rubbing which will require some trimming. I would stick with the 265s. I had run both on my truck and while the larger tires looked awesome, they were a pain in the ass. Not only because of the way they fit, but they made an already underpowered truck even worse.

    Good luck

I figured it would kill power. I was just looking at the 255/85r16, I think that would be about perfect at 33x10. Why would it need less backspacing to fit since it's not as wide as a 265/75 would be? I understand its taller but the width shouldn't be the problem. And with a 3" lift upfront I would think I would be able to get away without rubbing with a 33" tire with the 3" lift. It's just going to be a truck driven on the street but again, I am new to all of this and am not sure of fitment on these trucks.

Would just like to have a better explanation on why I would need wheels with different backspacing for a tire size that is a 1/2" more narrow and just another inch taller? And where will the rubbing occur?

Also the wheels listed will be flush with the fender flare? Or will they stick out a little bit?

What would be a good wheel spec for say 1/2" of poke?

You are right, the backspacing is fine for the 255s, I was thinking of the 285s.

So a 255/85 would work with that wheel setup with the lift I have? That may be the route I will go then. Because I get the little extra height that I want without a ridiculous width tire like a 11.50. I think a 33x10 would be perfect on a truck this size.

11.50 wide + tires would not look right on this truck in my opinion.

But the wheel specs I said should put the tires flush with the edge of the fender flare and maybe even poke a little bit? As long as its not super sunken into the fender well it sounds like the exact setup that I am wanting.

The wheels you mentioned in the first post will stick out 1.5" more than your stock wheels, for reference.

Ok so they should be pretty flush or maybe poke out a little then, right?...since the stock wheels are not flush to begin with?

Am I right by saying this?

I not sure on a first gen. Go measure out 1.5" from your wheels and your truck, and there you go

Only problem is the truck does not have stock wheels on it now. I just don't want something that is going to stick out too far.

Here's a little picture reference for you. This setup is 16x8 with 4.5" BS with 285/75/16. Your setup should be pretty much flush/slightly passed the fenders depending on the tire size you go with.

How much lift do you have on your truck SCSPerformance and do you have any rubbing issues with that tire size? Have to do any modifications to get them to fit?

How did you get the 285 not to rub on the UCA? Isnt it a 4.5" bs? Thought you need at least a 4" bs

4.5" is more than enough to clear the UCA. I have the same BS w/ 285's and have .5-.75" of clearance between the tire and UCA.

4.5" of BS will, however, cause you tire to rub the frame when turning to full lock.

I just have a quick question. I am going to buy the pro comp 7089's with 4.5" BS and 0mm offset. After searching and finding the 4.5" BS answered that question and I like the way it looks. But will the 0mm offset clear the caliper? That's all that I am worried about at this point before I order them.
