My rubicon 500 rear tires sit pretty squarely on the tailgate, have had it on a lot of long hauls like that, no problem. Plenty of rough roads too. Sticks pretty far out with the tool box in there.

this one the one time i have to agree with OZ and say the LB would be a good idea.

the only time i haul our atv is when we go 4 wheeling and the rhino is also going. so we just put it on the trailer. don’t take it to the dealer much, i do most the work on it my self.

    Wife rolled it 3x mod...
I used to haul my 1507 CC Victory (dry weight of 650 lbs) all over the place with the rear tire on the tailgate, until...

The tailgate crunched under the weight of the bike after going over a speed hump that i kinda did not see in the road.

I went right over to the dealership and talked to the service manager... Thank god that i voiced my concern of buying a short bed with the salesmen before i bought it because i let him know i haul bikes all the time, and he said that it would be no problem and he admitted to telling me that, after it happened. After everything was said and done, They bought me a new painted tailgate!

Now i have a 4 foot piece of 2" angle iron running the width of the tailgate welded to a 1/4" sheet of steel that the rear tire of the bike sits on to distribute the weight. Have not had a problem since!

I believe I made the original in 07 and it was copied and sold on TN. The cad drawing can still be found somewhere on the site still i think.
I still make them, you can find them on my site relentlessfabrication.us
Have one aluminum one in stock at the moment actually.

An aluminum one would be great. My tailgate is heavy with that thing on there.

Your honda doesnt fit between the fender wells I see. What size tires do you have on the rear? I have 10's and they squeezed. Did you make a ramp to rest them on?

Horndog this is what you'll probably need to do

Well it takes two people to get it on and off without banging it around. I would say around 60-70 pounds total

I'm 205 or so and mine doesn't seem any worse for the wear when I stand on it. I've had about 500lbs in people sitting on it more than a few times as well.
