    I've never been impressed with the 4.0 from jeep. It aint the 258 fo sho. But 307 with 33's. I trully feel for ya. Bring a snack and a cooler. You have a long ride ahead anywhere you go.

    I have tried to drive ONLY downhill, but man its hard to do. And you have more metal to drag around having an XJ, when you coming out again dude?

    I just keep it floored, I drive to Havasu every month in it and it gets about 12mpg.....sniffle, sniffle. Horrible! I didnt know before I bought it that it got such bad mileage, haha.

    I was thinking about a 5.3 LS swap, and I have read guys are getting as high as 20mpg that way. But I think a regear would help GREATLY, maybe I could even squeak 17 out of it.

    But the 4,0 inline 6 really has some AMAZING torque, but no horsepower because its a small port motor designed for torque.

    Yeah the unibody construction saves a bit of weight. Not really sure of weight comparison between the two, especially since I have full doors and a hardtop.
    And I do know my Jeep is incredibly heavy for as small as it is.

    We compared the XJ to my V8 exploders and they are about the same. The straight six is HEAVY.

    Checking for weight it seems (from what I have found) the XJ weighs about 3400# and my TJ weights over 4000#, seems a bit off to me IMO.
