Well, "we" won't have to see anything since I don't agree with your opinion the 1st gens were the holy grail of pickup trucks, or the 2nd gens are somehow lacking. In my opinion, Toyota was wise to ditch the 1st gens and switch to a larger, mid-size, truck. That's exactly what sold me on the Tacoma, while I would have passed up the smaller 1st gens without further consideration. Another substantial selling point was the overwhelmingly positive reviews of current 2nd gen owners. The vast majority report no problems whatsoever, while a smaller number report minor problems promptly fixed.

By the way, my 18-ft boat with trailer, with personal gear aboard, approaches nearly 3000-lbs. While the Rubicon might tow it, that's well above the tow rating.

    well...
Ive only owned trucks my whole driving life, no cars ever - so Im comparing it to other trucks not BMW's.
Also, unless you have it jacked up sitting on MT's its not par for the course. period.
If it was, Toyota wouldnt be fixing these vibration issues. right?

& congrats on getting a 2012 model that "doesnt" have the shudder problem.
Just because you dont have it/cant feel it yet doesnt mean all these other guys are wrong.

    Go Dawgs!!!
    Boo Tide!!!

i feared the shudders and vibrations before purchasing and completely forgot about the threads that i have read when signing 2 weeks ago. I just drove my truck and did not notice the vibrations at sudden accel and no vibrations above 55-70mph. I did notice vibrations on highway when test driving a 2012 TRD OR. Still at 700 miles so haven't really punched it at a light. Will post once i hit 1000 miles. I did notice a nudge when braking from moderate speed to stopping at light. (kaboose effect?)

Smooth as a butter, no vibrations that I can tell, I read this thread and tried to re-pro this issue and couldn't. Even at 75mph my truck is butter.

I also have the 3+1 rear leaf.

And I said nothing in this thread other than to express my surprise he'd sell his truck over that. The remaining comments from me were in response to comments addressed to me (such as yours).

Please show me where I've said anyone here is "wrong" about the vibration.

my comment was in response to this post of yours.
basically, sounded like you were trying to discredit this guys problem with his truck shuddering. If you have it...its an issue. period.

like I said - congrats on your truck not having this problem.

    It's not a slight vibration.

Toyota engineers prescribed the 3+1 rear leaf for my truck. They helped, but did not eliminate the vibs.

Already answered that three messages prior to your comment.

I've been posting in http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2nd-gen-tacomas/244535-drive-shaft-vibrations-solved-step-step.html while trying to understand this more, but I thought I'd share here in answer to the OP.

I bought a 2012 AC TRD OR one month ago with exactly 100 miles on it. It was brand new but they drove it 95+ miles from another dealer to the dealer here for me. I test drove it and didn't notice anything wrong, and I had read about the vibration so I was looking for it.

When the odometer got approaching 500 miles I started noticing the vibration / shudder. No problem taking off in first but if it shifts into 2nd a bit early and I try to accelerate while staying in 2nd it will act up. It all depends on driving style, and I can make it happen or not happen now that I know what makes it act up. Happy to help with any questions as I can reproduce it at will.

Hoping that a TSB comes out, but just watching and waiting at this point. 700+ miles on it now...

No other complaints about the truck except for a very slight steering wheel vibration / shake at highway speed. I suspect that's tire issue but watching that too. Still plenty of time to analyze before my first oil change or I decide to take it in sooner.

In your very first comment (as the OP), you described the vibration as a "minor shudder." Others have used the word "slight."

Okay, so what value did your comment (comment #254), telling me to "move along," add? However, you're right. No use arguing further, so I'll move along.

I won't be in denial. The truck vibrates from a quick acceleration from 0-40mph. Does it bother me? Not really. Should this issue be addressed and possibly TSB? Yes. Is this truck a beamer? NO. Now, if my truck vibrates at 70 plus mph which it doesn't, I would probably consider getting a totally different vehicle. Shaking or vibrating at those speeds is unacceptable unless you have a lift. Lemon!

I just got my custom one peice driveshaft made from A-1 Driveshaft and installed it the other day and all of my vibration issues have been resolved. There is still a very slight shutter around 45mph or so, but thats nothing compared to how it used to be. It rides so smooth now and im very happy with it! :)
