That's what I plan on doing. So far I really like the Lib Tech Skate Banana and found it at a local store for $100 off.

to many to list, check the build thread
Im liking the K2 lineup as well. rode them for a long time when i was younger and then switched to Ride boards. Now im back on a K2 and loving it. Best thing is if you have a problem with the board K2 and Ride will back the product and warrenty it for a replacement. Buddy tried to get a de laminating GNU replaced and they pretty much told him to F off, that left a bad taste with me so ill never buy a GNU product.

I like Nh cause it is easy and quick to get to but Maine is also cool. The only Vt mountain I have been on (with skis) is Mt Snow

:woot: 1000 posts! I always go to mount snow, i can make it there in less than 2.5 hours so that is my go to mountain. I went to school in VT and i rode jay peak every weekend, that place is my favorite, lots of those damn french canadians though lol.

Ya mount snow is always so crowded, and people can get annoying there. another reason why jay is my favorite, it is never to packed.

Most of the time is right; but if you ever catch a heel edge real hard with some speed, there's a significant chance you'll flip almost upside down, and your head will be the first thing that hits the hardpack. You don't have to be taking jumps and doing flips to get a head injury.

The music thing can be solved with earbuds and still having a helmet, or if you're real fancy, they make earflap headphones to work with helmets.

All it takes is that one bad fall, man, and it happens so fast.

The first time I tried I rented a board and thought I wont be going to fast so who cares about the helmet. Well I caught the heel edge like you are talking about and rang my bell pretty good, went and bought a helmet then

Oh I've rang my bell many times since I started. The ice we have here is definitely rough. At this point I know my limits enough and know how to fall to not crack my skull. It's strange because when I ride my motorcycle I'm a big proponent of ATGATT (All the gear all the time) but for boarding all I really need are my knee pads. I do limit myself to only about 15-20 foot gaps for jumps and mostly boxes and unkinked rails.

I use one. Didn't for a long time but last year a friend, new to boarding, lost control slid into a tree. tore her acl, and got a bad concussion. Could have easily been a lot worse. but other then that keeps your head warm

Ya I have had 2 light concussions before. One from wrecking a atv I have a full face helmet on and I cracked the helmet pretty bad. Knocked the wind out of me and I kinda blacked out for a second or 2. 2nd time was when me and a friend flipped a Kawasaki mule and I busted my head open on the roll bar, got 6 stitches. I have hit my head doing other stuff, but those are the two worst times. It's not fun at all!!! Also like you said keep you head warm. And you won't lose or have your head phones fall out.
