so yet another dumb question, but slotted or drilled rotors are not a good idea if i like doing the trails like shoe creek and what not right?

I don't think they would work as advertised with mud, clay, small rocks in them. I would be concerned that shit would get stuck in them then end up damaging the brake pads. Conventional wisdom dictates larger braking surface for better braking performance. Its why our calipers are four piston and the new Tundra front brakes are six piston brakes. For your first gen, you might be happy with a second gen front brake kit. It will be a BBK for you but without the extra cost. I'd recommend keeping an eye on the Xrunner forums for someone that is upgrading theirs to the TRD or what have you.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
They dont exactly stop better and really wont make a diff at Shoe Creek. The biggest diff you will see with stopping is in rain (really good in rain) and under under heavy use (high speed stops, towing, hauling, down hill braking, etc...).

My rotors made a huge difference when hauling stuff to the Suffolk dump. Its right off 58 and its a very small turn lane so you have to go from about 65-70mph to almost stop each trip. Original would fade just on that stop (and eventually warped). When I got vented/slotted rotors, no fade at all, even when hauling a kitchen floor's worth of tile ;).

Thats an option but I think thier stock brakes are the same from the 1st gen Tundras. Calipers look very similar at least.

As far as a brake upgrade, the 06 and earlier Tundra brakes are what you want. Be carefull as 04 and earlier originally had shitty calipers/pads that were upgraded with a TSB.

Here's what Ive collected for 1st gen brake upgrades:

I did it for ~$300 with brand new rotors, pads, brake lines (not necessary) and used calipers from an ebay car junk yard.

I shy away from nav units. With Google maps on my phone and a vent mounted holder, I get the same functionality. I also get traffic info and constantly updated maps. I get a new phone every few years, can't say the same for my head unit.
    Otherwise... I agree!

I had an issue where the bolts for the calipers were too long for the Tundra calipers. I think some ppl drill down the bolts (dont cut them) to fit. I just got some very thick washers :notsure:.
