Greetings. I have been searching high and log for a small under seat subwoofer solution.

Its for a 4 door 08 4x4 tacoma. I have seen the offerings by scosche and JL but am looking for something to replace the rear underseat storage.

Anyone get creative with this area yet?

    Thanks

You're going to have to get really creative. This is under there. Thanks to Fyr Lt for the picture.

I've seen a couple people fit a couple 8" subs in there with a custom built enclosure.

Did they leave the metal support in place and mold a fiberglass enclosure in there? I like the way this sounds...

Thanks for the replys. I think this would be a really trick place to put some subs.

Even a couple/few of the JL 6.5 inch woofers may be a killer addition.

Digging this thread up...I assume no one has tried to get one of these closures under the seat? Looks like the box is 5 3/4" high when laid down flat. Never really looked to see how much space is under the seats. Guess I'll have to check. Imagine i would be very tight if it even was able to fit.

I really doubt it'd fit under the front seats. Not sure about D-cab backs though. There's not a lot of room at all under the front seats. Keep in mind, they move back and forth so you're really limited. I think some alpine PDX amps would work under it but not an actual sub box. Easiest way is to get a tape measure out :D

Yea I hadn't previously looked under but just eyeballing when I went out a bit agothere isn't nearly 6 inches of clearance that would be needed. Really don't want to take up any space in the access cab, guess I could give up the space right behind one of the seats if I find I really want a sub. Really wanted a stealthy install under the seat though. I know Kenwood used to make an amplified sub for fit under seats that might have fit. But that's been discontinued and I question how good it would have actually sounded.

I fit an Infinity self amplified sub under there, kenwood makes one as well as sound ordenance from crutchfield lol I think I may have butchered the spelling. they don't compare to a dedicated sub and amp but adds a nice amount of bottom end base that the stock set up is missing. im happy with the way it turned out. minor modifications required

I have a Kicker Hideaway sub underneath the passenger seat in my Access Cab. I removed the lower cross bar and it fits perfectly. Sounds good for an 8" powered sub, when combined with the Kicker KS speakers all around, as well as a Kenwood DDX9702s headunit. All the upgrades together as a package make for a completely different sound than stock.

I opted for the passenger seat since there was HVAC ducting under the driver seat on my truck.
I have a post here with links to everything, if it helps you out.
