Did you miss the point where I mentioned beating up your car gets you shit value for it? I know this first hand.

I traded in a 2010 EVO X, got 30k for it, purchased it for 33k, 2k down while driving it 3 years, that's awesome, walked away with a new taco, rinse repeat in 2 years.

I can't keep a car over 2 years, I get bored and always want a new vehicle, works out perfect since you get a tax write off, and if you keep your vehicle in good shape you get great value for it.

I still use my truck as a truck, tow, haul shit, and you can do this without beating it up. Thinking a truck is a 32k offroad machine, and modding it to the point where there is no value left in it, then destroying it offroad is fun, but again for me, I like new toys and don't want to get stuck with a beat up expensive vehicle. That and my RZR destroys everything offroad that I could reasonably build.

If you take care of it the new never wares off. I loved my old 97 it had dents and rust but I still washed the shit off of it when it was dirty and took care of the running gear ran just as good as when I bought when I sold it with 285K miles.

~2.5 years with this truck and it still looks like it did when it left the dealership...heck maybe even shinier. No scratches or dents and I fully intend to keep it that way. My family has a lot of beat up trucks that are used on our farm and it's nice to drive something that doesn't look like a junker. Every once in a while I see an immaculate old school pre-Tacoma and I always think to myself how neat it would be to still have this Tacoma 20 years from now in its current condition.

How is it running? Still OK? When was the list time the oil was changed in that used truck? Dents, scratches are all part of the adventure. Service it well keep driving it till the door falls off.

My last truck was a '95 GMC 4x4 with 300k miles. Up until I was rear ended it was like showroom condition. Truck totaled, insurance paid going rate for a '95 truck with 300k.

Didn't put any attachments, no modifications, and washed every two weeks.

This time, given my life circumstances, am looking, watching, reading, and listening, and am making little changes and additions to thoroughly enjoy my Tacoma.

When I got it home from the dealer, and after a week, decided to give it my first wash, discovered the "T" on the drivers side door was broken. I was so bummed and then noticed the mud flap on the same side had been messed up also along with a couple of minor scratches on the wheel well, and decided, they are minor, get over it and enjoy the truck, you'll do more as time goes on.

Well I tried sitting in a quiet room, meditating, using the positive energy of the universe and after a couple of weeks, it still bugs me. But I am getting better.

I want to keep it nice, but I want to not be soooo anal about it. Friend of mine that am on the road with has an Exterra, and has done some great things with his, that I want to do with mine, so look out.

Maybe my first will be to install a Mag flashlight holder on the base of the drivers seat.

I was wondering the same thing. Purchase through your business and write off the usage?

Mines still new to me even though both my door and my fender have been painted because of the idiots at Sherwood park Toyota dealership. Everyone at that dealership loves to wreck my truck considering they are the only people to scratch the paint then be assholes about it.

Yea, its a business thing, 100% write off of the lease payment. Or you get some write off if you depreciate it

Mine wore off after two weeks; I had a few more beers than planned one night, let the wife-to-be drive home and I smoked a cigarette while I rode shotgun.

What I meant was, if they give you 30k for your trade in, 9.8%(My state tax amount) x 30k = Tax reimbursement you get, so your basically paying very little in tax on the new vehicle, or no tax if the vehicle costs the same as your trade in value.

    got it.

same in Florida. you only pay tax on the cost differance between the new and traded vehicle.

tax "write off" may be the wrong choice of words...but I understand your point.

My truck has 1400kms on it and it spent the intire weekend up in squamish (near whistler Canada) exploring in the mountains..... rubbing through brush the whole time.... the paint is officially ruined!!!.....

begin end of caring about exterior! (fully cleaned out the inside when i got back though and did my best to wax out scratches) but this is why i got the offroad model and not the sport!:canada:

This is what the whole truck looks like now! nice
