 I thought it was obvious. He was responding to a post(yours) that was referring to weight in the bed.

    I got mine too.

Managed to mod the plastics to put them over it also.

it is pretty heavy and even with an easy-down it still drops pretty hard.

The cables will snap before the gate will buckle though.

The crescent shaped scuff marks inside the wheel wells were from the quad wheels (10's also). The gun case gave enough height so there was less stress on the box from jamming my toy in there. Prior to installing the case, wedging the quad in there eventually cracked the box where those little cubbyholes are recessed above the wheel wells (no pic of that damage, the truck is gone forever). My 2013 doesn't have those little cubbys so I'm hoping it will not get all broke up over carrying my quad:)

when I load heavy objects I try to position them as close to the sides of the tailgate as possible because the most support is there (the cables)

I had a 1200lb mule 3010 in the back of my friends older tundra. I put laminated scaffolding planks under the wheels from the front to back to spread the weight off of the tailgate.
I took the tail gate off completely and then used the planks as a ramp to get it off.

just to give you guys some ideas.

... ^^^ ... Just bought it a few minutes ago on your web site. :D The aluminum tailgate cover looks great in the photos and is exactly what I need.

This also will help with --> keeping your fingers tips from pulling off the tailgate plastic top cover ... especially when lifting & closing the tailgate.

I hope FedEx gets it to Atlanta in good condition.

EDIT: 19 minutes after order was placed ... I get an PM saying item is being wrapped for shipment ... ... not even Nordstroms can top that ... GREAT SERVICE is alive on TW and in the US ... :D

I have the same question.... also the cable anchors? I am a little concerned about riding my 500 pound Triumph (plus 195 of me) up there, obviously for the weak tailgate but also wonder about the cables... but it seems like some folks have had heavier on them.

tracking should have been sent to your email now as well. :)
I can try and get in touch with a shop that does anodizing, I see them deliver to the warehouse behind my shop multiple times a week.
I can also get a powdercoat quote if that is something you may be interested in.
I previously loaded 650lb atv's + me on the gate without any issue. They're pretty strong, dont know a breaking strength off hand.

I saw this back when you posted it originally. Looks pretty good but not sure I have the time. One question: is there room to get in there to use machine screws and lock nuts at least in some of the holes? I have only been in my tailgate once to install the Dynolock electric tailgate lock but that was a long time ago and I don't remember much.

Thanks for the feedback Relentless. I am not in a rush for this since it's winter (and crazy holidays) but I like your product and will keep it in mind when the time comes. I think it would be a lot more attractive in black... or even cuctom anodized colors. Powder coated would be good, too... I am guessing cheaper than anodized?

. . . ^ ^ ^ . . . The aluminum tailgate cover was delivered via FedEx today. It is a h*ll of a nice cover and Relentless (Taco) Fabrication aka Eric did a super job packing it ... even had heavy cardboard packing under the aluminum lip. The lip was not bent at all (which was my main worry while being shipped).

Anyway, I plan to modify the aluminum plate tailgate cover a little and will post some photos when I have installed it.

Eric, thanks again for a great product and the great service. ... I would recommend this to anyone concerned about tailgate damage due to loads and/or someone who wants a nice looking mod too ... :D

Sounds good. Would be a hell of a lot quicker and easier than doing the homebrew angle iron mod.

What kind of mods are you planning to do? Also, would this diamondplate accept a finish like spray on bedliner?

Certainly, just would want to scuff it up a tad to promote adhesion since the diamond plate is a smooth polished finish.
I had bedlined my cover on my 07 with Duplicolor coating, and while it chipped on the edge from constant loading and unloading things into my truck, the rest of the cover remained in good shape with the coating. linex or rhino liner would be even more durable and probably never flake or peel.
