Trd exhaust install prices for taco

I know I know I know, a ton of you are DIY'ers & wouldn't dare consider this but for me it's time & where-with-all...I have neither. So...got a quote, $500 installed by Toyota factory techs, was also told it would be covered under new car warranty. Does this price sound fair? I've seen it online for $390 so $110 for labor doesn't seem too bad. Thoughts? Thanks.

Thanks man. I hear ya. Two bolts huh? I'm not very good but I did install the trd skid plate on my own (4 bolts) so maybe I should try this. I don't have a torque wrench. Does it need to be torqued?

 

i dont know for sure, but i dont believe so because the exhaust bolts are the sprign type so as long as you dont fully compress the springs i think you are good. ask one of the more knowledgeable ones (chris4x4) just to make sure though. get yourself a can of either wd40 or pb blaster for the rubber hanger things. makes the old exhaust slide out much easier. and also do a search for a how to on here and it will give pics and all kinds of other hints to help out

 

no torque wrench needed. took me 30 min to remove and install new one. Very easy. Little tip, use dishsoap to get your hangers off, brut strenth will work, but I am all about easy.

 

You guys like the sound of the TRD exhaust vs stock? Thinking about doing this too.

 

500 is fair, but takes 30 mins to DIY, though thats not saving you all that much i guess....

 

love the sound! although mine would sound quite differnt that yours. Headers, intake,y-pipe all effected the note of my exhaust.

 

this is where I got mine. 357.50 shipped to your door. It is a toyota dealer in tx. If says it is for a 05 to 08 but you give them your vin when you order and they send you the correct one. 30 min install and you save almost $150. Let me know if you have questions.

All you're getting is a diff muffler and some shiny pipe....have a shop swap mufflers and you'll be out the door for less than $100!

 

What muffler sounds the best and is least restrictive?
