Nice bike, I love my new bike. I am looking at 29ers now. I need FS though, I like that trail too. My Aunt lives in Jamul, CA and she has the entire mountain to herself. Reminded me of that a bit.

I am thinking of going hardtail for my first 29r next season... Probably going to be a Yelli Screamy. I rode hardtail for most of my mtb years until recently (3 years ago) trying out full suspension. I raced on hardtail for 4 years but never on FS, I guess I always felt slower on an FS. It sure is a more comfortable ride... I'm torn on FS or Hardtail for the next bike... Anybody have any input? No I am not going to have two MTB bikes in my garage, one or the other (FS or hardtail) :)

If your torn I'd buy the hardtail since youre obviously having second thoughts about the fs. Worst comes to worst you have a nice new hardtail with a fs on the side when you want it.

I know you said you don't want two in the garage, but you did ask for input :p

But if you like going faster I'd pick up the hard tail, I've been eyeing a few lately my self :)

Do they make lockable rear shocks? Could be an option if so.

Has anyone tried the SLX brakes yet? I was looking to upgrade from the J5's on my DH rig. Saints are a little too powerful for my application.

    Yeah.
I have both, and honestly I ride the FS 26er way more than the HT. I love my Sawyer, but I like the rougher trails for the most part and only use the 29er on the smoother ones. If I had 1 bike, it would probably be a FS 29er.

One of my buddies has them, they work great for him and look like good quality. He broke a lever in a crash, but that can happen to any brake. I like the SLX line, good stuff for a reasonable price.

Yes they have lockable rear shocks, I can lock out both front and rear on my bike. I usually lock it out to and from the trails.

I did my first night ride last night. Crazy stuff! My adreneline was pumping hard for the first mile then I got used to it. Ive ridden this trail 20+ times but never at night. there is also a 4.5 mile loop section that we did twice, the second time we did the trail backwards. It was like a completely new trail! haha Two of the guys that were in our group are volunteers that help build the trail system (they are in their 50's and whooped my ass in endurance/speed)
Overall It was a great time

I had to bum a headlamp and it was kind of weak so I think its time for me to invest in a good headlamp.

    Yeah.
    Night riding is a blast.

I have this one, it lasts about 2.5 hours on high, but I can see fine with it on low. Riding at dusk, there is no light that really helps much, so be careful.

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/1800-Lumen-...2107718?pt=US_Flashlights&hash=item43b5280546

I cut the elastic off the plastic head mount, put some thin weatherstrip tape on the back (keeps it from moving around), and used heavy-duty velcro straps to attach it to a helmet. I put the battery in the top media pocket of my Camelback. Works awesome, and way cheaper than the brand names that are basiclly similar.

I also got a flashlight one to mount on the handlebar, I aim that one in front of the front tire with the beam barely hitting the tire. It just uses 3 AAA batteries.

^^I might get one or two of them. One for the helmet and one for the handlebar.
