Yeah, at least in my case it's more expected..I was 35 when he first fell ill and he was 77. Among his many issues, Alzheimer's is the worst. I joke that it's like having a kid, except he is taller so he can reach more things to get in trouble.

 

Lol that's true. My grandpa forgets how to sit down and stuff, so it makes daily routines difficult.

He also brushed his hair with a hair trimmer.... Thank God it wasn't on

 

Holyshit one night out and I was three pages back. Ok I will beat you to it I am an ASS. As I read the posts all that came to mind was one liners. Alex and Chris you are both good guys for helping out. My father has passed but when he was still here some of the shit they do and say kills me, you kinda have to laugh or go crazy. You may feel like you are missing out on something now due to helping them but when they are gone that is when you will be missing out

 

Worst part is he also has kidney failure and is on dialysis 3 days a week. Due to that, he can only have 48 ounces of liquid a day, or else it could build up in his heart or lungs.

While it's gotten better by giving him a small fridge in his own room, he still tries to sneak drinks after he's had enough for the day and forgets that 3 minutes ago you told him he can't. The worst part for me is when I have to be firm with him, I feel so disrespectful talking to an elder that way but I know I have to.

And you got it Billy..there are concerts, dart shoots, and other stuff I've missed taking care of him but those things will always be there..he will not.

My dad is on dialysis and has been for the last 3 years. We used to do it at home but it's too much for his new wife to do. Diabetes sucks.

 

Yea! It gives you a better perspective on life. Those kids my age whining about having to do one thing around the house, if only they knew.

Sarah's little brother is 12 and he's a friggin mommas boy. All he does is sit inside and play Wii or watch TV. I went off on him last weekend cause Sarah asked him to do the dishes and he said "mom will do it". Wrong answer. She does SO much for him and he has life SO fucking easy. When I was younger than him I was mowing the lawn, doing the dishes, built raised beds around the yard with 6 pallets of cobblestones, all because my mom was working and my dad was unable to. Jesus Christ if I could smack that kid I would!
