Hey folks! The tesoro near my house just started offering non-ethanol gasoline. I went to fill up the rental (my honda got smashed, now i have a Tacoma!! CHEEE HEEEE!!), the lady pointed at the non-ethanol pump and said "don't you want to use the good stuff?"
I replied "no thanks, its just a rental..." - plus, it was like $0.30 more expensive.. :D

Now that i have my baby.. should i consider using non-ethanol gas?
    Anyone use it?
    Isn't it better for truck?

For an extra 30 cent I would definately use it. It's at least a dollar more per gallon where I'm at on the east coast. And thats if you can find it.

It will definitely improve you mpg, in the 4-6% range. Is it worth the extra $0.30 vs mpg? if reg is $4.00 and E0 is $4.30 that's 7.5% more. Doesn't pay.

I used to pay $0.10 more and it was worth it to me.

good point on the mpg's... but i'm more concerned about the well being of my truck.. I figure you can survive on Mcdonalds, for a while.. but will you survive as long as someone eating healthy? < Am i even in the same ballpark here? idk? hahah!!
will it screw up the engine if im always changing back and forth? Non-ethanol to ethanol and vice versa?
the money ain't an issue.. i'm talking longevity and performance.. thanks for the responses btw :)

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
My owners manual says to not use higher than 10% ethanol IIRC. I'm less is better in this case.

0% if you can, i only use premium as it has less ethanol(i think) and it makes the truck preform better so that's always a plus :0

Ehh. I would use it. I put supreme in my 1999 Tacoma with 80k so if I had a 2013 you bet I'd be babying it. I only use supreme because I swear my truck doesn't downshift as much with it when I get on it.

You should check, most premium isn't E0.

    Check here.

Ethanol is actually bad for your vehicles fuel system. Next time you're at the pump, look at the nozzle. It has an expiration date and has to be switched out. The ethanol eats the gaskets in the pumps...imagine what it does to your truck.....

It is all I use in mine. Better MPG and doesn't draw in moisture to your tank like the ethanol will. Small engine shops love the ethanol they get a boom of business in the spring after a lot of people leave their mowers and weedeaters sitting in the shed all winter with that stuff in the tank. Usually the rings will rust and the cylinder locks up and its typically shot, no choice but to buy a new one. ETHANOL SUCKS!!

x's a million. If I had the option I'd buy non-ethanol all the time, every time. I love the northeast but hate the fact that every single state here has a mandated 10% ethanol requirement. Small motors hate it, it doesn't store well, my 79 Honda motorcycle was never meant to use it in the first place....there really isn't a single good thing about it.

I just put regular in the truck. But in my Jonboat I put ethanol free premium in the motor on that. That stiff is hard to find and like a dollar more per gallon.

Around here it's $1/gal more than e10, not to mention the pumps that do have it are kinda suspect. ie. old stations, marinas.

E10 is the cheapest here in Nebraska, 10 to 15 cents cheaper than regular and 40 cents cheaper than premium. I have used e10 for 8.5 years in my 2002 4runner for a total of 75k miles and I had NO issues at all. I will used it again in the Tacoma.

10 cents more a litre here to get 91 which is ethanol free vs E10 87 , which works out to about 40 cents / US gallon , I go that route

I get my gas at the BRP/Ski-Doo dealership. I don't know how they can offer it, but the 91 Octane, Ethanol-Free gas there is usually ~10 cents less than the 87/Ethanol fuels offered at gas stations in town.

It makes a huge difference in performance and mileage when I have to fill up somewhere else. I usually experience a ~2-3 MPG drop, and a noticeable loss of power. My access cab with the 4.0L/Auto consistantly shows 21 MPG mixed with the 91/Straight. The best I've ever managed is 18-19 MPG with the 87/Ethanol.
