Lost a sway bar bolt...

And found this when I went to change what I thought was brakes going bad. Until I can get replacement nut can I just remove the disconnect from that side and leave the sway bar in? Or should I just remove the whole thing? Working on the axle swap tonight.

I had previously taken it out, then put it back and apparently didn't get something tight again. I think it will stay out if I take it back out, but I do sooooo much road driving it is a hard choice

 

Holy shit man! Thats a mess.

Just take off the whole thing for now. Not that big a deal.

I'd expect the nut is 1.25 thread. Take the link off and take it down to home depot or wherever and find a new nut.

 

No need for a sway bar, just take it off and leave it off.

 

Sway bar is now off. Could not get the damn end cap off the axle, regroup and trying again later...

 

All that grease seems to be a bigger issue then a missing bolt

 

It tore the CV boot.

 

You need to use a slide hammer with a jaw attachment or a few pry bars to pop the cap off the front diff. Helps to have an extra set of hands there too. Took me and BeeRadd about 45 min to get one of those off.

We changed out his CV axle for the same reason. Boot ripped...though his was hit by a rock, not the sway bar

 

I shaved a screw driver down and tapped it in there and pried the caps off.
