I never really been a huge fan of the A/C. I always thought it looked like an incomplete truck. not to hurt anyone's feeling just my .02
also if you're going to have 1 vehicle might as well make it the best all around truck you can, which is why i also wanted a long box. why buy a truck that you will use as a truck and loose a foot of room? just makes no sense to me. If i was going to buy an off road vehicle then i would look for something with a short wheel base like a wrangler or an older land cruiser...

    THIS ^^^ is the truth.

I have an access cab and wear my testicles on the outside.

I refuse to let my wife and / or kids pick what I drive.

I beg to differ, the majority have a 5ft bed, 1 foot shorter.

And the access cab has the rear seats that fold down 2005-2008 I believe which hold a LOT of stuff back there, more than my friends double cab...

Granted if anyone has to sit back there in an access cab it sucks bad.

Bullshit. You just didn't want to shell out the money for a double cab. Less in this case (with regards to space) is not more. You can't get a damn thing in a RC or AC. This would ultimately force you to get some sort of bed mounted toolbox that would take up room in the bed. Yielding you with crappy room in the cab and crappy room in the bed.

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
I got my truck as a 4 door for a few reasons.

    1. I like to keep all my stuff (guns and camping stuff) in the truck.
    2. More room for fun activities with the miss
    3. If one day my wife decides she is having a baby, I dont have to get rid of my toy for a more "family" oriented vehicle.
    4. Looks better IMO.
    5. Higher resale value
    6. Sexy
    7. Because 4 door FTMFW

Translation - you're self-centered and refuse to consider others in your family.

Perhaps now might be a good time to bring up the fact that the Army purchased double-cabs for soldiers in Afghanistan. I'd contribute good money to see you go there and suggest to those guys they wear their testicles on the inside.

Plenty of clean, dry, warm space for whatever/whomever and a bed for anything that doesn't require it.

Really hope this is a joke.

When I got my truck, my wife didn't even help pick it out. I just told her I was going to get a truck that cost the same as the amount of money we had. I wanted the DC because at the time she drove a saturn sedan. I was driving a WRX. So I wanted something that gave us the most room when we traveled to her parents or my parents. I already knew I wanted a tacoma, but the DC was the obvious option.
Now that she has a new prius V, when the time comes for me to get either another tacoma, or another vehicle, I will still probably get a 4 door, or a DC tacoma because I like having the most amount of room possible without driving an SUV or hummer. If I keep this tacoma, I will probably get a 2 door sports car to drive on weekends and the track.

Your statement that people who drive DC's are "pussy whipped" make you sound ignorant and kind of asshole-ish to be honest.

who cares?..... I bought a DC/LB because thats what I wanted. I like the way it looks better and their is more room. My buddy has an AC and he loves it. so what if somone buys a DC because their wife says so. I can tell you if my fiance wanted something different I def would have done it! They make the different models for a reason... people use them for different things.

have to agree with TacomaPrime, I read through and found a lot of ignorant comments. too bad people are so simple and closed minded.

in canada the only way to get a 6 mspeed manual, OR package with a 6 feet bed is with an access cab. It's way more sexy, but with my newborn the space is limitted. Passenger seat is all the way to the front and passager is sqeeze between the dash and the seat.

If buy a new it will be a F-150 FX4: since the taco doucle cab with 6' feet is only an automatic in canada, it have no reason to keep a toyota with all their new problems. Your will get more bang for your buck with an F-150 and with more spare.

That been say I still like my Taco OR package, but Toyota need to work hard to give better product as they did in the 90's. My old corolla, celica and camry were designed way more stronger adn have less irritating issues. One of the reason of the taco was the 6 speed manual and again taht tranny design could be better.

Toyota customer service piss me off.
